Interesting angle on the current biggest fight, say after Canelo beats Smith in Sept he unifies JMW titles vs one of the Charlos or Lara in Dec/ next May. How would you feel if Alvarez offered GGG a fight for the Unified JMW Championship, would you be for or against it and do you think Golovkin should accept in that scenario?
GGG hasten faught at JMW since 2002, yes nearly 15 years ago Why would he drop to a less prestigious weight division to win belts coveted by no boxing purest and in doing so giving a less skilled young fighter a massive advantage... Would be crazy for GGG to even consider this, some boxers nvr look the same after dropping down from their natural weight
There is nothing prestigious about 160 right now and hasn't been for years, but considering 54-68 comment they still say to this day, chance for a big time win (which he doesn't have), unified in a second division)which is currently better anyway), and a huge fight in terms of money and notoriety why not.
Guys don't lose weight to fight in "junior" divisions, their egos are too big. This is probably the only reason Mayweather settled at 147 entering the ring at 149 lbs.
Don't see how Floyd fits but he moved up 5 weights and settled in at his 4th eventually your going to top out. Golovkin has said recent the same 54-68 nonsense, and JMW is currently better than MW don't see why the first two replies make it out like its a bad thing to fight better opponents in a neighboring weight.
Despite what people used to say about Golovkin and 154, I don't think he can make weight and be healthy.

If he feels he can make it comfortably then why not? Myself I'm not too bothered about it - despite the 154 - 168 rhetoric GGGs clearly happy enough dominating at 160 and if that's the path he chooses, so be it. TBH I think a move upwards is far more likely than a move downwards at this stage in his career, and that's the direction I'd prefer. I was never particularly excited about the Canelo fight anyway FWIW.
I wonder if some guys are just dumb or they hate Golovkin so much... Fighting anyone from 154 to 168 doesn't mean that he would face them strictly in their division, is it that complicated to understand? Making 154 for GGG is extremely risky, guy doesn't have much muscles with fat/water to cut like a Canelo for example, he's too settled at 160... But there are bigger guys than him who are cutting for 154, sooner or later they'll jump up and we're going to have interesting fights with Andrade, Charlo bros, Williams, Lubin and maybe even Lara if he stops talking only... At the same time, when business is done at 160, undisputed and beating Hopkins record, Golovkin can surely move to 168, they are already talking with Ramirez for 2017... He has lots of options in fact, guys from 154 going up, moving to 168 or also the great prospects/olympians coming up at 160, like Kythrov, Murata, Derevyanchenko and more... 160 is a very healthy division, and it's going to be even better, ducking is holding it back for now...
Nobody HATES Golovkin... The stupid sh*t some of his fanatics say is the reason most boxing people turn & begin to bash a bit. Truth is the guy is 34 years old... he will be washed up by the time the 154lbs division elite graduate to 160lbs.
