Am I seriously seeing the mentally ill Golovkin fan base claim that Brook is bigger than Eubank Jr.?. :rofl Good grief, how far down the sh*tter are you losers at?.

Probably the most shocking and unexpected match up I have ever seen and I've been watching boxing for 20 years.

I can't believe this is happening. Brook has some b*lls. Is he trying to one-up Khan?

Ya'll are acting like GGG had a plethora of options available of MW fighters and said, "No, I want to face a WW."

It's a lose/lose situation. He couldn't get a decent fight at MW, so would be criticized for fighting a bum that doesn't improve his star power... or fight the top-rated WW and criticized for picking on a smaller man who would improve his star power.

I don't particularly like it, but if you can't get any of the MW's in the ring with you then so be it. I understand the dilemma. Brook isn't a MW, but it's a big fight. But you better believe GGG would much rather be fighting Canelo, Saunders, Jacobs, or Eubank... it's not like he didn't try to get them...

    :rofl:rofl:rofl

What's next? If he can't find another WW will he be looking at LightWeight? :patsch

    Wow, just wow.

How about he moves the hell up instead of dragging a WW FFS!! A WW!

Here is what Golovkin thinks about dragging up fighters:

IBF/IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin says he felt bad for welterweight Amir Khan last Saturday night in his 6th round knockout loss to the much bigger WBC middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. Golovkin said it was a bad fight for boxing because of how much bigger Canelo was.

What's Hearn thinking? He could ruin his fighter here...

Come on man, there's no defending something like this. It's better he faces a dragged up Light Middleweight contender than Kell Brook. It's better if he fought another Dominic Wade esque fighter. At least there's a bit of integrity there.

He should've even fought the ultimate farce, Erislandy Lara. Lara is even less of a farce than this fight.

Golovkin is earning substantially more for this fight than he would against a Helland, Johnson or Lara. Plus he is breaking ground in a new market where other subsequent big fights/paydays can happen.

Seems like this whole sport is now viewed as a business and fighters are applauded for getting paid yet when GGG does the same thing people begrudge him.

Hell of a contrast between Ward moving up to fight Kovalev meanwhile Golovkin's fighting welterweight Brook.

And so much for all those people who were trying to claim Brook would duck Vargas, ducked Chaves, would avoid Spence etc.

I wonder if Brook will be able to get back down to 147 after this?

Fighters don't get applauded for fighting much smaller, mismatched opponents. Any fighter would get criticised for this and you know it.

So, fighting a Wade-esque fighter for little money and 0 interest is better than fighting the top WW for a big PPV event?

Listen, I understand your frustration but GGG is in his prime and he's paid his dues to where he's now going after (and needing) the big fights. EVERYONE HAS TURNED HIM DOWN. So, he's gone after the best WW for a huge event.

This is better for his career, believe it or not, between doing this or fighting another Wade. It still sucks but it wasn't GGG's first, second, third, or fourth option either.

Also, Lara didn't want the fight either. He's NEVER reached out to GGG's people other than behind a camera for publicity. Brook actually stepped up when no one else would. Emphasize: when no one else would.
