I genuinely believe Eubank JR wanted the Golovkin fight but his dad has just cost him his biggest ever fight by being so difficult to work with by trying to take over the promotional aspect of the fight.

JR must be at home now feeling very frustrated, all this talk about GGG over the last few weeks have made him look very silly. I hope for JR's sake he realises the negative effect his dad is having on his career.

Jnr wouldn't have the same appeal to the casuals if it wasn't for his dad. There not soft and certainly know how to play the game. There was no way they was going to take the GGG fight. Probably win the British outright keep them self's in the paper in the meantime like they are doing.

EDIT: Eddie has showed the public what they are by how fast the Brook fight was made. I don't think they was expecting that. But casuals love them

Promoters are brilliant.....they just do what's best for them and F everyone else! Probably good business I think and in Eubanks case totally justified cos they sound like a F mare to deal with.

Good point I didn't factor in SR's appeal to casual fans as he is after all still considered a British boxing legend by many. However his management over Eubank JR has been poor. Matching him against British level guts when he should have been fighting euro/world level & now the whole GGG fiasco which has left JR looking like he bottled it!

Eubank wanted it, his dad got in the way, certain of that. Partly I think because he believes Golovkin could seriously harm his son.
I think Eubank JR needs to seperate himself and become his own man without his father taking a front seat, as it's clearly not good for either party.
Afterall, Eubank SR didn't have his dad barking in his ear trying to make himself the main man.
What Eubank JR should do now is come grovelling back to FW and BEG for a BJS rematch, as let's face it, that's the main fight now Canelo is fighting Smith and Golovkin is against Brook.

Go back to FW? Better off selling his ring piece for money than go back to FW.

Let's look at the facts, Jr. has has clear shots at Danny Jacobs WBA Regular belt, BJS's WBO and now Golovkin WBA Super, IBF, WBC... And had has completely failed to step up for any of them. His career is being stifled by Snr. and no doubt will fight the likes of John Ryder for his British next. It is a complete joke and is taking the **** out the fans, he needs to step up pronto!!

Golovkin probably would have beaten Eubank JR very badly.
Eubank SR would have been criticized for making the fight.

Interesting that Sr wanted a change in commentary team- I do wonder how on earth Halling/Watt on hanging onto their jobs at this stage.

On the contrary, I think Senior would have been applauded, given that he's spent a good portoon of the last three years telling all and sundry Junior had / has the tools to beat GGG.

Given that Eubank Sr was predictably difficult to deal with during the negotiations, I expect Senior, in all his hubris, to come out an say something to the effect of "Well, we were on the brink of accepting the Gennady Golovkin fight, but Kell Brook and his people beat us to it." :patsch

The Eubanks shouldn't be blaming Brook and Matchroom for taking the GGG fight; if the Eubanks want to blame anyone for Junior not getting the fight with Golovkin, they ought to take a long, hard look in the mirror.

I agree that Senior has left Junior looking very foolish. This seems to be a common thread with the Eubanks: they call out a world level operator, that mooted fight falls through for one reason or another, then Junior ends up fighting aBritish level opponent.

With that said, it wouldn't surprise me if CEJ ends up being scheduled to fight Adam Etches in a voluntary defence of the British title.

I said it weeks ago , it was never going to happen , its the lonsdale belt for jnr and then a few European level fights , simple Snr knows EXCATLY how good his son is ,,, He's a domestic level champion , maybee slightly higher , but he IS NOT world champ ,,, GGG level his dad knows this , but has still managed to get him talked about in the same breath has world champs .

Good management from SNR he will keep the name alive while gaining experience , and make a grab for the title in a couple of years
