I dont understand why little g didnt fight him at 154. He'd get faaaar more credit for meeting Brook in the middle, rather than bring him up 2 weight classes LMFAO. Imagine if Ward offered Golovkin a fight at 175, the little g fans would cause a riot on here.

A bit yeah. People still know he is an elite fighter at 160 but when you look at all the fighters through history who have taken risks and moved up or down in weight to challenge themselves, it doesn't make Golovkin look quite as special.

 

GGG is a middleweight. Fights at 160 pounds and beats everybody game to tackle him at 160 pounds.

Many greats of the game fought their entire careers in the one division.

Canelo hasn’t ever fought anyone at 160. The most he’s ever weighed was 155. Cotto was a Jr Middleweight when he fought him. Canelo’s never even been ranked at Middleweight, he’s never fought anyone ranked at Middleweight, and he’s never fought anyone who’s ever even campaigned at Middleweight. How can he flee from a weight he never fought at?

 

He held the middleweight title genius. The guy drains himself to make 155, he could easily make 160. Fact is he held the middleweight title and never wanted to fightat the middleweight limit.

 

Canelo fought as a middleweight by definition because he exceeded the junior middleweight limit in his bouts. He even won a title at middleweight, which he binned like a hot potato when GGG challenged him for it.
