I mean come on, give the chap a fair shake. He's clearly been chasing big fights and big paydays for years and the big names are avoiding him. These men we watch for entertainment are also trying to make a good living for themselves considering they put their life on the line every time they enter the ring. I'm not even a GGG fan, although I respect his ability and style. But there's no question Hearn has offered him huge money to fight in the UK and for that alone, factoring in his disappointment at failing to land big fights, I respect his decision. He deserves a big payday and that's what he's getting, it's as simple as that. And besides, I find it an intriguing fight. Brook is a natural 154 pounder who kills himself to make weight welterweight. Golovkin isn't the biggest middleweight of all time. Both are offensive fighters and Brook looks to have a good chin. This will be a war while it lasts and isn't that what we want to see? I genuinely believe Golovkin is facing his toughest test to date. Brook is an under-rated fighter. And when Golovkin is given the chance to fight the best middleweights in the world for a decent payday, I've no doubt he will do so. Let the man make a few quid for himself, he's also not getting any younger.
its only the demos that hate on him its quite clear to see he was willing to fight the guys but they avoided him
If it was Golovkin vs Pacman or even Mayweather and Golovkin went down for 154 to make big money, theres nothing wrong about it. But...vs Brook at 160 why ? He could go up instead and fight Ward at 168 or Froch or even Kessler or some of the current 168 belt holders even if they are not big names and big money, why now and Brook at 160-he will get ZERO credit for that win.
But we surely can blame Alvarez for fighting Khan though, right?. I mean how dare Alvarez who has fights against the likes of Mayweather, Lara, Trout, Angulo...etc dare to fight a Welterweight like Khan?. GGG on the other hand, who's biggest wins are Rubio and Murray, is absolutely heroic for fighting a Welterweight. Isn't it embarrassing that a Welterweight is considered this fraud's biggest fight and name opponent to date?. Please don't give me this "no one wants to fight him" nonsense. Maybe that works to one year old fans like you, it sure as hell is absolute malarkey to the likes of me. Every fighter that faced a similar situation as GGG is claiming to be facing forced big fights by chasing after them. You need to check the records of Leonard, Duran, Hearns, Mayweather, Pacquiao, RJJ, Toney...etc. All these fighters moved up to establish their names. They sure as heck didn't sit in one place and fight bums.
Yes you can criticise him for this and he deserves it. I doubt he's living in poverty so money is not a valid excuse from criticism either imo.
Watch this video. Abel Sanchez sums it up. Sometimes it is not even about the opponent, it is about keeping to a schedule and maintaining the goodwill and momentum with TV networks to get those mega paydays in the future; https://youtu.be/6N9MY_PVFvA
Fighting bums or Welterweights isn't getting him any free payday. Every fighter that made it took risks. They sure as hell didn't "maintain a schedule with them networks by fighting tomato cans bros!" to secure paydays.
Also if people don't criticise and instead condone fights like this, fighters, promoters, networks etc will think it's acceptable and it will be more likely to happen more often.
Like hell he can't be criticized, move his ass up to 168 (like he supposed to) and he'll find a fight! When the real fans heat his ass up for taking this fight, ddeal with it!
He probably has some say. But my guess is his thoughts are let the manager do his job to make fights and I'll do my job inside the ring.
