I was just looking up info on George, not only did he have an iron chin, but of his 73 wins, 64 came inside the distance. That's a very high perecetage.
I havent seen too many of his fights. I did see his ko of Jerry Quarry, and Quarry was definitely dazed with his miscue of the count. Oddly though I never have seen a discussion about Chuvalo's punching power. Can anyone elaborate?

Chuvalo had a solid, sort of clubbing type of power like blunt sort of trauma...nothing spectacular as in single shots...more of an attrition type puncher. i think his ko of Quarry...that left hook, was maybe the single best punch of his career...but it was pretty much an anomaly...a freak. If he and Jerry had been rematched, he would have never replicated that punch....that ko. I don't care if they met another half dozen times.

Chuvalo roughed up Ali enough in a couple of fights to gain Ali's respect.

He'd grind a guy down. He threw a ton of bodyshots in there and the heavies capable of sustaining that type of punching are a rare breed.

The other thing with George is a lot of C class heavies on that opponent list. and especially on the koby list. But even without a lot of snap on his punches, what George did do was continue throwing. Hardly the biggest risk taker as far as types of punches thrown.

Underated puncher,he did not have the skill, accuracy and speed to land in the right place in the right moment, put he was a compact super strong guy like a bigger versión of marciano,he had a big punch but not the skill to deliver his full power

I remember seeing Chuvalo say that after his first fight with Ali, that Muhammad went to the hospital with bleeding kidneys, and I went dancing with my wife.

Something like that was said after Thrilla in Manilla. Frazier was dancing in a party while Ali was recuperating in a hospital bed.

If Joe thought he was at a party, then those Filipino nurses whom he thought he was dancing with should have turned up the drip on his IV.

Underrated puncher. His punches were not sharp because of the lack of great speed but powerful.

He had good clubbing power almost like he was a bit muscle bound.
