Any boxers that use SWIMMINg as their main form of conditioning/weight loss?

Probably accelerated his knee problems, you need impact to keep connective tissue strong. Avoiding impact is just about the worst thing you can do as you age.

In terms of using muscle mass running>cycling>swimming so in terms of general conditioning and weight loss swimming is going to be the worse of the three. The more gentle something is the less stress, the less stress the lower the adaptation. Swimming is good for recovery because it is easy and low impact.

If you don't do resistance training and if you overdo it, sure. Running in itself is fine if you're not stupid with it.

And any boxer that uses anything other than boxing as their main form of conditioning is a complete idiot, plain and simple. It'd be like a marathon runner using cycling as their main form of conditioning, conditioning is very specific to the activity unless you're completely unfit.

Joseph Parker took it up after having it recommended to him by Klitschko and remarked afterwards how quickly he started finding improvements after taking it up as part of his conditioning regime

No idea what you're talking about not only does swimming put less streess on your joints, it makes them stronger due to resistance of the water.

I'd suggest anyone who doesn't swim, to get in a pool and have a go.

Last time I tried (my son is a swimmer - tried racing him) I nearly died, every part of my body was burning, shoulders, arms, core, legs and my lungs were in pieces (although that was mostly because of technique not allowing me to get enough air!)

PS I got mullered. I'm a relatively fit guy, but my son is 10 and rinsed me! That's what 11 hours a week in the pool will do.

    Wladamir and Sergio Martinez

for their old man legs and knees

    also throw cycling in there

You see an older boxer using swimming and cycling you know they are shot which is why Fury is going to beat up Wlad again in the rematch.

I'm #1 contender for IBF and #2 for wbc and I use swimming. Easier on the knees and better for lungs
