It's not fine with either of them unless you're pointing out a specific poster who's being hypocritical. Just like you can point out people complaining about Golovkin's opponent selection, I can point out those who are defending it. Floyd got **** for it, Canelo gets **** for it, and now Golovkin. Of course they have their supporters still.
Floyd got **** from it from Pac fans, not from Floyd fans who are now GGG haters. Canelo got **** for it from GGG fans.
GGG is a career MW. Floyd himself was a small WW who moved up from Super Fatherweight and Marquez called him out
Please I've seen countless posts on this an other forums criticising Hopkins best wins being former welterweights. This is nothing new, you will always have critics picking apart a fighters choices and resume. It's not just Hopkins who's best wins were against welters, Hagler had Duran and Hearns, Monzon had Griffith, La Motta and Robinson etc. I will add Brook hasn't really proven himself on the same level like some of those that challenged Hopkins, Hagler and Monzon. But then we all know why Golovkin has taken this fight, nobody is queuing up to fight Golovkin. Maybe if the rest of the division grew some ***** Golovkin wouldn't have to fight a welter.
And people definitely need to stop defending GGG over this, if you're not getting fights at your weight, I'd rather you just move up than drag guys 2 weights below. It's not excuse IMO.
from what i understand, the situation is that the dude was getting ready for a decent opponent. when this opponent refused the fight(for whatever reasons), he was offered a replacement fighter(an easier fight on paper) for the same conditions..same check, same weight... IF what hearns is saying is true and all the signs shows it is, then i fail to see this as a bi.t.c.h. move from ggg...
No. The 160 pound limit is Golovkin's kingdom. That's his perch. And whoever wants to conquer his lands can come and challenge him at 160 pounds. Nothing wrong with defending your territory as the consensus best in the world at what you do.
DLH is not a massive Welterweight FFS. He started at 130. When did tall and skinny mean massive? It's weight classes man. Not height classes.
similar scenario yes though when further scrutinized there are some salient differences especially with Tito already annihilating top 154lbs/160lbs prior to meeting Hopkins. You'd also have to take into account Hopkins had already fought and lost to a pre-prime RJJ which well trumps anything GGG has done so far. Lets just say this isn't an ideal match up for GGG as it pertains to legacy but I guess its a small start? emphasis on "small" lol hehehehehe....joking joking
