Well, if you're looking for bright spots for Krusher...at least he'll have plenty to work on.

The fix was in before the rounds. 118-109? Ffs

Was Max Deluca scoring this or something?

Wow, so it looks like Kovalev may genuinely be in trouble against Ward.

That fight alone may just make up for the awful year for boxing ...

I had 115-113 for Kovalev. Chilemba did extremely well in the early rounds, but he started playing safe in the later rounds and allowed Kovalev to steal them.

115-112 or 116-111 is about right IMO.

What mental effect does this have on kovalve going into the ward fight?

Same. Credit to Chilemba though. He came to win this evening and deserves credit for refusing to just be another name on Kovalev's ledger.

Like I said, I never liked this fight from the outset. I just had a bad feeling about it. You don't choose a tricky as hell durable spoiler who is difficult to tag clean, has given everyone he's fought serious problems and has been on the wrong end of numerous razor-close controversial decisions and often in his opponent's backyards for a voluntary defense in your big homecoming fight when you want to impress and put on a good show for your home fans. When things start not going your way or you're being made to look bad, that puts a lot of mental pressure on you and that can obviously make your burn up nervous energy and drain your gas tanks.

Chilemba had fought 8 undefeated opponents (Kovalev is his 9th) and most of the blemishes on his record are controversial.

    Eleider Alvarez 18-0-0 in Canada
    Vasily Lepikhin 17-0-0
    Maxim Vlasov 19-0-0
Thomas Oosthuizen 13-0-0 in South Africa
    Doudou Ngumbu 20-0-0

He's 3-1-1 against those guys but he could be 4-1-0 or 5-0-0 or 4-0-1

And he fought a 19-1-0 (19-1-1 in the rematch) Bellew in Liverpool twice too. And he beat Bellew in their first fight, IMO.
