McV, tbh I cannot remember all of them, it's a recurring story I've read on a number of occasions down the years, most recently in Curl's bio of JJW.

Regarding the weight issue you refer to...why do you pick the Baksi fight in particular? 188 in that fight seems, on the face of it to be atypical of Walcott's weight.

I haven't access to all the weights I'm just showing that his weight for Simon was typical for him ,he wasn't half starved as some say.

Cool! Must be a rare one. The only September 1951 Ring I can find has a drawing of Louis and Charles.

Thats it! Jersey didn't have the right style to beat the constant from the shoulder jab of Lar.

I'm thinking Holmes by close but deserved decision in an intriguing match.

Not eating for 2 days before the Simon fight may not necessarily lead to a massive drop in weight, more a loss of energy to fight with...do you agree?

Personally speaking, I train pretty regularly (4-5 times a week time permitting) and I know that if I didn't eat for 2 days for 2 days and then trained, I doubt my weight would drop by much, but I am sure that I would not be able to train as effectively as if I had eaten properly. The same would apply to boxing.

i think that the best of the 70s ali, foreman, frazier, norton, holmes beats 2 of the top guys of the 50s in the same night and not joking. ali would humiliate charles and walcott in the same night, frazier destroys charles and walcott in the same night, foreman would **** marciano and walcott in the same night, norton beats charles and walcott in the same night, holmes schools charles and walcott in the same night

Would make for an interesting thread & poll question... I bet that one or two of the late 60s/early 70s greats could pull this off.

I seriously doubt that. Maybe, just maybe Foreman if he had luck and got to one of them very, very early.

As for the thread, Holmes wins comfortably. Walcott would find Holmes difficult to counter as Holmes was fast and fought from a distance rarely lunging in, and once Larry picks up the pace with his jab the fight is pretty much in the bag for him.

Holmes could fight on the inside.

Holmes didn’t win comfortably against the best fighters in the division.

He generally beat them, but he rarely dominated them.
