I think he probably should move up at this point but move up two divisions? To take on guys like Kova/Ward, that's asking too much IMO and as for Brook, I just think he wants a cash fight TBH similarly to Khan.
Well, there are stories of GGG besting a young Kovalev in sparring, and Kovalev himself has said that GGG would be a tough fight, so no, GGG is a worthy challenger for Kovalev. Brook - GGG is certainly a poor matchup but not an absolute joke given the circumstances. Brook will probably enter the ring at a similar size to GGG after all. An absolute joke is something like GGG-Bradley as mooted by the fool Loeffler :nono
His advocates far outnumber his critics and detractors, and he also seemingly has the universal respect of his peers. My point stands. Golovkin challenging the biggest challenge he could face - after a long series of soft touches and mismatches - would, IMHO, be the absolute best thing he could do. Especially since he's now targeting largely unproven welterweights.
Yeah agreed, it's asking too much, but still - it would be fun I hope Brook comes to fight, I like Brook and want him to try his best.
Indeed I'm just saying that most people who'll be voting yes here will probably be his detractors. If you rate GGG as one of the best p4p boxers and want to see those fights based off of that, I don't have much of a problem.
I don't think the word courage needs to be in those little quotation marks or whatever they are. Assuming he can't get Saunders or Canelo in the ring with him, I think Golovkin should go for a SMW first. If he can become #1 at SMW then yeah why not go after the Kovalev vs Ward winner?
yes, he seems to be talented and nobody wants to fight him at mw so he should move up or maybe move down but not drag up wws to 160 boxing fans want to see how ggg does against non bums
I'm not sure he's big enough for LHW. In any case, moving up two weight divisions at once seems idiotic, especially to face a top P4P (Yes, I'm referencing Brook).
You could be right, but it's pretty easy to identify his biggest detractors by name, and I'm not necessarily sure you are right. Personally, I just want to see GGG in there with a perceived challenge. He's too good to be fighting guys that never competed at 154, let alone 160. This is a step backwards. I understand GGG is looking for a payday and don't blame him for that. And I understand he isn't having an easy time landing the fights he wants. But this developing trend of Golovkin taking on softer and softer touches, moving in the wrong direction, is unbecoming of someone with his level of talent.
