Sergey Kovalev is a much less skilled fighter then Gennady Golovkin

Kovalev is just not sensitive to the institutionalized victim identification of certain minorities and the race politics and history of the USA. When he said Stevenson and others looked like a ******, I think he meant that he looked like a ****** and was trying to be insulting as were they, not that all people of his race do. But I also don't think he cared much if people took it that way. They are much less politically correct in other lands and there is not the same black vs white mentality in other places. There are just citizens like for example in Brazil.

I think it also comes down to respect and he didn't have much respect for those he made comments about.

He never talked that way about hopkins - who did in fact make racist like comments in the past like when he said he would never lose to a white boy implying that his blackness is part of what made him superior.

He never talks that way about Ward and in fact seems to be his biggest fan.

His trainer is black. His favorite fighters - RJJ and others, are black.

You seem a little sensitive about this. We are talking about Kovalev here not white power hate groups or going up to people with a shirt. I think some individual people of any race do look like monkeys, are ugly, have long big noses or whatever. I think kov was just pointing out what he saw with those individual fighters in an insulting way and it had little to do with race for him.

If he was really racist, he wouldn't be an admirer of the people who are claimed to be the ones he is racist against. It doesn't fit or make sense. Racist people hate - they don't hire the hated as trainers. Maybe he is insensitive.
