Ward's team contacted Shabranskyy to fight Ward, problem was Ward wasn't paying Shabranskyy enough. Vyacheslav Shabranskyy wanted the same amount Barrera got which was $450 grand. Ward made a deal to fight undefeated Eric Skoglund. Skoglund would later back out of the fight. Ward's team contacted Nathan Cleverly, but Cleverly opted to fight Juergen Braehmer instead.

Sharbranskyy and Skoglund would have been good fights. Ward's promoter should have paid them the money.

Good video Rummy.:good And spot on in your assessment on Kovalev's performance, and the Brand comment.

The first time I saw the Krusher logo, I thought Kovalev had a K-Mart T-shirt on.

I'm sticking to my guns, Chilemba was carried in the match by Kovalev, he was using him to get rounds in, Kovalev is very intelligent and realized that even if he didn't stop Chilemba or look good, the experience would pay dividends. Looking bad today, which could possibly lead to having the best P4P win on his resume of any active boxer in the near future, small price to pay. Take into consideration Kovalev was ill and hadn't had an ideal training camp, out of sorts since he was in the place where he killed someone, fighting a fellow Main Events fighter, getting cheered by Russians and not booed, unmotivated, disinterested and distracted, yet he still beat Chilemba who is borderline impossible to look good against 10-2 dropped him and had him out on his feet anytime he picked up the pace. And as an added bonus Chilemba came out of the match smelling like a rose, which could eventually get him a big match and make Duva (who Kovalev owes his success to) more money in the long run.

I thought Kovalev did a fine job and that was him off his game, if I were Ward I'd be more scared now than I was before.

Even if he didn't stop Chilemba, that to me means nothing.
As ward hasn't got that durability in him. Don't be suprised to see well I'm hoping a cleverly type Krusher one that straight from the off bangs away at ward.

    Kovalev's words before the fight:

“As far as Chilemba goes he's a boxer not a fighter,” Kovalev said. “That makes him an uncomfortable boxer for me. I need more skills to have victory over Chilemba. He is very motivated because I have three titles. This makes him very dangerous -- he wants them. I don't think about Ward right now. Right now it's time for me to think about Chilemba. If my victory comes over Chilemba and it is a 12-round decision, it would be a very good experience for me for my next fight.

Kovalev expected a tough fight. The fans didn't.

No I'm pointing out the obvious, you came after me for having the same opinion as the Mod, who you don't seem to have an issue with, or want to say anything to. What are you a scaredy cat?

Don't be a ***got, if you believe in your assessment so much take it out on the guy I was agreeing with, instead of me a lowly poster.

What the **** do I have to stand up for myself for? That's my opinion, I don't give a **** what you think, you're a delusional raving lunatic running around here like a crybaby woman screaming what a bum Kovalev is and no one agrees with your assessment, and you're mad about it so you want to take it out on me, your usual target.

Kovalev beat Chilemba ar more impressively than Bellew did either time, you're a crackpot for thinking otherwise.

I'm not being a fan boy, you're being the flaming hysterical hater that you always are, only this time your guns are aimed at Kovalev instead of Wlad.

That post you made up top was a disgrace.

Rubbishing Chilemba and giving him zero credit for an impressive tactical performance in taking Kovalov the distance in a close fight.

If i like a guy and he get beaten , I become a new found fan of the guy who beat my guy. Thats how it is with true fans of the sport.

You're a mickey mouse fan of individuals and the chit you produce to defend them is akin to a teenage Beiber fangirl . I don't need to witness fully grown men act in this manner.

The inverse is true for you. Literally all you do is hate on a couple of fighters. How are you better than a cheerleading fanboy? Idiot. :patsch

Kovalev picked Chilemba to go rounds. A first or second knockout would have done him no good................Kovalev was there for a learning experience, same style as Ward, etc. It did appear as if Kovalev could have finished Chilemba, but backed off for a good reason. The bell saved Chilemba in the 7th round, Chilemba almost got knocked out in the 8th and was bloodied. almost knocked out in the 12th................this was great for Kovalev................

Question is: What can Andre Ward learn from fighting Brand?

I think Ward is looking to go rounds and sharpen up at this point, Farmy. We'll see if that winds up being a mistake.
