I really have been going back and forth on this. Wilder's chin is abysmal and Arreola can crack, but on the other hand, this isn't the Arreola of 4-5 years ago, and he himself has looked like his whiskers have gotten a little shaky lately.

As much as I hope I am wrong, I think Wilder wins. Arreola just isn't what he used to be.

 

This is a real tough one for me man, when I was making my pick in the league and I went back and forth about 4-5 times, switching Arreola and Wilder's names.

Here's what ultimately swayed me. While we know Wilder is a fraud who is always one punch away from having his glass jaw exposed, and while Arreola can indeed crack - and in his prime was better than anybody Wilder has faced - he has looked vulnerable in recent fights.

That is, TODAY'S Arreola is a shopworn fighter with a shaky chin - just the kind of handpicked setup Wilder's entire misbegotten career has been built on.

I'll tell you this, if he does take Wilder out, it shows exactly what a fraud and joke Wilder has always been.

 

Arreola is looking in shape. He lost a lot of weight, looks sharp, and seems determined.

At one time, Arreola was a good opponent for Wilder. After Stiverne/Arreola II, Chris was sort of a wreck. That was a good time to get him. I think right now, Arreola is as dangerous as he can be. He's at the end of his career, at least as far as opportunities go, but he's still young for the weight class. (Chris i35, by comparison, Wlad (40), Stiverne(37), Luis(37), Haye(35), Pulev(35), Jennings(31), and Povetkin(36).) so Chris still has time. He could have a late-career skill/dedication/whatever improvement that has a relatively positive impact on his legacy. I'm just saying, it's not beyond the realm of possibility.

All that being said, Chris has everything to gain, and nothing to lose. He's a 30-1 underdog. He was picked to lose, his name was SUPPOSED to be on Wilder's resume. Way back from the Stiverne II fight, the plan was always to get a known HW name on his resume, and Arreola fit the description perfectly.

If there ever was a time for Chris to stick it to the man, the time is now. I say this because Chris' ubiquitous presence in the HW division has always been due to his availability, style, character, and gamesmanship, and willingness to work well with the promoters, managers, and opponents. He's a pleasant, willing, capable fighter, and a promotion ALWAYS has room for a man like that.

That being said, Chris needs to get what's his. He needs to look out for himself, and that means busting Wilder's ass, taking that belt, and negotiating some fights for his retirement. I totally think Chris can take this guy, and I think he has a few good fights left in him.

No he doesn't. We are talking about Arreola. He can't even put punches together.

 

if arreola is not shot in the same way holfield was not shot in the Tyson fight. remember, people were afraid for holyfield's life. wilder might be in for a real fight. I always felt this was a pick em fight.

 

I think Arreola is getting pile hammered and I predict tears. What's the deal with their life matters shirts.

 

I think Arreola will cause Wilder some issues on the inside because I very rarely see Wilder move backwards. I wouldn't rule out a closer fight and I wouldn't be completely shocked if Arreola pulled it off. Don't get me wrong, Wilder SHOULD win, but you never know, especially in the heavyweight division.

 

I'm betting on Arreola by 6th rnd KO
