He's not smart enough to be having fun with me. He genuinely sees Carl as Irish. It's pathetic.

Quigg and Gallagher have regularly dropped Rigo's name. Quigg claimed he'll come straight back in a world title fight so there are no excuses.
    Cue the ageing African bantam.

Oh the irony...Carl was brought up in one of the most staunchly Loyalist areas of Belfast and boxed for Ireland and was proud to do so. When asked if he wanted to represent Britain he replied that he was proud to represent Ireland and that Irish boxing had supported him for 11 years. He represented Ireland at the European championships and incidentally also married a Catholic girl. He is an Irish boxer. Fact.

He is also an Ulster Protestant who likely has a passport issued by the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland is separate from Britain, he isn't British. He may class himself from Northern Ireland but he isn't British. As he was born on the Island of Ireland he is entitled to an Irish passport but probably will never hold one.

Carl has made great strides in uniting both sides of the divide and it is ignorant racists like yourself that are incapable of understanding the underlying issues or nuances that perpetuate hatred and divide. Carl is an Irish boxer that was born in Northern Ireland.

McGuigan did the opposite and opportunistically "moved a border" and represented Northern Ireland at the Commonwealth games and for financial and promotional reasons painted himself as a British fighter for access to a bigger market. That is cynical. What Carl has done shows class, loyalty and courage and he should be applauded for truly crossing the divide between faiths.

Well said. But I don't think it's fair to criticise Barry. Believe me I lost track of the number of times the British media were only too glad to refer to " our British boy" when referring to Barry. Barry is a legend.

Trouble is that Barry wanted to court the British market ahead of his own domestic market. It is revisionary to paint him as a great unifier. He was an opportunist and played both sides of the coin. However I was a big fan and loved his fights as a kid and was gutted when he lost to Cruz. It was McGuigan that got me into boxing in the first place.

You must realise boxing was dead here in the banana republic back then. Barry had no choice. Also he made way more effort with the south than Carl has done. He was a household name here.

I realise boxing was dead in Ireland and so did Barry. All the more reason why he should have been an ambassador for the 26 rather than an interloper in the 6. He had a choice, and made the wrong one. Agree that he made more of an effort than Carl, but so he should have. After all, he is from the Republic.

It's ok to make fun of people believing in God unless they're Muslims then you must respect their beliefs or be called a racist.

That's a lot of words to get so badly wrong.

Carl is British. Deal with it.

Clearly reasoned debate is lost on you.

You're an idiot. Deal with it.
