It's close to be honest. Huck and Chagaev vs Stiverne and Szpilka.. But Povetkin also faced Wlad, Perez, Takam.. And before the title fought Chambers and Byrd.

So all in all, Povetkin faced tougher comp throughout his career.

 

Wilder wanted to fight Povetkin in September, but Povetkin signed to fight Mariusz Wach in November instead. So Wilder signed to fight Duhaupas. Then Wilder wanted to fight Povetkin in January, but Povetkin said he wouldn't be ready so soon after the Wach fight. So Wilder asked the WBC if he could make another defense. They said yes.

Then Wilder and Povetkin agreed to fight, and Povetkin failed his drug test. So Wilder took the fight with Arreola.

When did Wilder "duck" Povetkin?

Was it when Povetkin decided to sign to fight a tuneup with Wach?

Or was it when Povetkin said he was too sore to fight Wilder so soon after Wach? (And he obviously would've failed a drug test with the changes that took effect in January.)

Or was it when Povetkin STILL couldn't cycle off his drugs he FELT HE NEEDED TO BEAT WILDER in time to fight Wilder?

The Teper/Duhaupas, Teper/Rossy and Duhaupas/Charr fights were all happened in last two years. Duhaupas is criminally overrated, he's a more durable but slower version of Derric Rossy, a fringe contender. Nothing more, nothing less.

PS: I'd take Szpilka over Duhaupas as well.

 

Exactly. All those pills he felt he needed to take to defeat Wilder were still in his system. And despite all the stalling tactics, he still got caught.

I'm sure Povetkin and his team are busy trying to figure out what they can take before he has to get in the ring again.

If not, don't be surprised if he's back to the same "HUCK VERSION" of Alexander Povetkin next time out, but this time with age added on top.

I have no freaking idea how you came up with Rossy and Duhaupas being the same. They are nothing at all alike in any way. Is it because they both went 10 with Teper?

I wouldn't. Not after Szpilka had to be hospitalized after that KO. He's taking a long time to come back. He still doesn't have any fights scheduled.

You idiots need to grow up, you honestly think Wilder wouldn't have gone through with the fight if Povetkins tests were clear? Wilders not a PED expert, all he knew was the guy many have been accusing of juicing for years ****ed hot.

It would be incredibly stupid to take a fight if there are question marks over your opponents use of steroids, all Wilder wanted was a level playing field and he wasn't sure he had it.

Based on what? He'd be at odds against Johann's style much like he was against Wilder's.

 

When I watch both of them, they look similar to me, level-wise. They're certainly not far apart. And Teper/Duhaupas was a 12 rounder, not 10.

 

Unlike you, I don't talk about fights that I didn't watch. Duhaupas beat Charr clearly but It was a close fight. And certainly he didn't beat him as clearly as Briedis did, and I'm not just talking about the KO.
