True, but the quality of their two respective paper title reigns is quite similar. Huck was really the only quality defense that Sasha made during this reign. The rest of the quality work that Povetkin did book-ends the reign he had.
Thing is I don't count Povetkin's reign. He was never the champ. WBA jr belt is not recognized. WBC on other hand is a major title. The title holder of that belt should be fighting better opponents period
Why bother comparing him to anyone,if you're a fan of Wilder why wouldn't you want to see him fight grade B opposition after 30 odd fights as a pro? I ain't even gonna mention grade A opp as that's very unlikely to happen.
This should be common knowledge to all. It's like comparing the defenses of an interim champ to the actual champ. Funny thing is, neither Wilder nor Pov were the HW World champs, that's been on Wlad for the most part, until Fury took the crown, and it's the only one that matter so far.
I don't see why the WBC heayweight belt should be considered major, since it hasn't been held by a lineal titleholder since Vitali's first reign. A paper title is a paper title, regardless of brand. That doesn't excuse poor quality opposition, but I don't think Wilder should be elevated to the status of champ until he faces and defeats the lineal champ.
No I don't do that. But you make fringe claims just for the sake of it without even attempting to back them up... All signs point to you being an obnoxious hipster douchebag, not a long time knowledgeable hardcore boxing fan. What? Knocking out a shot Helenius suddenly makes you a world beater? Even if he was slightly favored just about everyone had written him off and figured his time as a serious contender was over, the win wasn't nearly as impressive or important as it would have been a couple of years ago.
I know a lot of people dont like DW but if he developed better footwork and learned to use that jab/right to the body he could clean out the division. His athleticism is head and shoulders above anyone in the division.
If swallowing bottles of now-banned pills and beating Manuel Charr and a bloated Mike Perez makes you the number-one contender ... then, yes, beating Helenius, Charr and giving the WBC Heavyweight champion a rough night makes you a top 10 contender. Which is probably why Helenius is rated in the top five by both the WBC and the IBF. LIKE I SAID, he's a top 10 contender.
As you've already proven in this thread, you don't read very well. Apparently, reading "signs" isn't one of your strong suits either.
You claim to be a hardcore long time boxing fan.. Yet you're acting like ABC rankings should be taken as gospel truths? atsch Oh yeah... About Charr. You know he's a mutual opponent of both Povetkin and Duhaupas. Povetkin won every round and brutally KO'd him, where as Duhaupas took a fairly competitive MD.
When will Wilder fight a mandatory? 4 voluntary title defenses against bums is against the rules............... Povetkin was framed....................he has been cleared.............the WBC is there to protect Wilder. Wilder will continue to fight voluntary defenses, nobody else can get by with that.............
