These were all understandable choices coming from the given sources. Its not uncommon for a champion to pay his respects to another great champion who came before him.. Jack Dempsey in particular was held in very high regard by boxers and sportsman alike from the early half of the 20th century. Even champions who were around as late as Mike Tyson spoke highly of him, as Tyson did.

Well, the greatest fighter that has ever lived is Fedor.

Greatest Boxer is a different discussion entirely.

    Agreed.
As for the greatest boxer...this would require a PhD thesis to be able to adequately answer the question.

In all the word of FIGHTER i have to choose Marvin Hagler, he showed everything you want physically, but mentally he was unbreakable.

Jack Johnson and Gene Tunney both picked Bob Fitzsimmons.

Can't go wrong choosing Hagler, even though I remember seeing the Thrilla in Manila and the Rumble in the Jungle, I started becoming more passionate about boxing because of Hagler.

That said, I'm going to choose Duran, who went from a brawler to a scientific brawler, during the course of his career and was likely the best infighter of our times. I also do distinguish a fighter from a boxer even within the sport of boxing itself. (as opposed to including MMA)

I can't pick one over the other between Ezzard Charles in his prime, Robinson, Greb, a prime Pep and Armstrong.

Ray Robinson, end of discussion. :good
If anyone wants to debate, I'd be happy to but you're going to have to 'counterpunch' a ton of facts, realities, and statistics that I'll throw at you....if not? Next thread please. :D
