I have to admit that since day of the fight weigh ins was abolished I'm not clued up on some things? Ok so using Canelo as an example I understand that from months away where he weighs in the 180s he cuts weight over time to make 155/154 and where on the scales he looks like he's ready to drop and looks real dry, that I understand. The bit I can't fathom is how in 24 hrs he's able to blow back up to the 180s again in such a short time, how is this possible,my thinks of someone cast away on a desert island for months with hardly any food or water and then seeing em on the news the next day looking fat, quite simply it doesn't happen so what am I missing? Virgil Hunter said he'd love to know how he does it also so clearly it's not just me in the dark?
It's not that hard to do... He fights in 170s not 180s, rehydrates around 15lbs. That's around 7 kg He probably goes on a liquid diet days before the weigh in, then after he weighs in he goes and drinks smoothies. His smoothies contain all of the nutrients his body has been deprived of in the liquid diet. (source: all access) He'll have lots of energy foods, very big meals and lots and lots of water. I wouldn't be surprised if he ****ed 20 times in a day. 7kg is very easily done in 1 and a half days.
interesting thanks for the answer,I've also heard something about there being a difference between water weight and normal weight which confuses me further. Why would Canelo not reveal his true weight if it was 170lb on the fight night, from his look on the scales at 155 the day after he looks a lot larger than 10 or 15lbs would you not think?
Alvarez & most boxers do the unofficial weigh-ins in full attire. Team Alvarez has said this in numerous recent interviews.
