tyson had great speed, great power, great defence, great chin, good footwork, he was a great combo puncher,he was a very good body puncher, very accurate, he had good stamina in his prime, he was one of the best finishers of all time if he did not have the potential nobody did... another different thing is the mental factor
Greatest fighter to ever live is Ghenghis Khan, no one else comes even close. I have ended the thread because there is no comeback against me........................ Brew hahahahaahaa
You are correct, sir. Also the greatest procreator. He cast his seed wide and far into the willing and unwilling both.
Depends what you mean by greatest fighter. If you mean who could beat anyone else who ever lived, both at their best, that would probably be Ali. If you mean who had the best resume, all things considered, I'd have to pick between Greb and Langford. If you mean who combined beautiful boxing and a great resume, I'd say SRR (with Joe Louis not too far behind).
nikrj : BINGO. you came closest to the answer. Ray Robinson I am partial to as I saw him ringside at his best several times was along with Benny Leonard the best all around fighters EVER. Robby could do everything in the ring with grace and flair. Case close. But Harry Greb had the most surreal and amazing career ever. Think about it; !- 300 bouts in which he fought and beat more HOF fighters ever, and most of them outweighed Greb by 10-35 pounds, such as Gene Tunney, Tommy gibbons, Tommy Loughran, Jack Dillon, Maxie Rosenbloom, Bill Brennan, Fat willie Meehan ,Mickey walker etc. 2-In Greb's last 280 bouts Greb was never STOPPED. 3- In ONE year Greb had FORTY SIX bouts and won them ALL. 4- Almost all the great fighters who fought Greb called him the greatest fighter they ever saw... 5- He fought everyone, every style, every WEIGHT, every color and traveled town to town every week without nursing his injuries, and in the last 5 years or so Harry Greb did all this with being BLIND in ONE EYE. Think of the courage it required knowing that entering the ring one blow to his remaining eye, could render him completely BLIND, and helpless to his opponent and the crowd. With all this on his plate Harry Greb fought over 100 bouts and beat about everyone though he was a fading fighter about then ....His like boxing will never see again.
Among the great fighters there is Jon Bluming. He is very competent in Judo and Kyokushin-Karate (Student of the masters Mifune and Oyama).
