Carl froch haha, he will never get a comms job full time for any broadcaster. He hasn't got any more boxing knowledge than a part time boxing fan (if their is such A thing) the fella thought Parkers first name was Peter a few weeks back in a IFL interview then faked a phone call to try and get out of the interview. A great fighter but I don't think he's in love with the sport enough to be a comm.
I'm sure he's been gently pushed. He is just mind numbing and dire. He readily admits he doesn't like all the hype surrounding boxing. Couple that with the fact he has zero personality and he never was the man for the job.
I hope he wasn't pushed- lots of cost saving measures from Sky in the past few weeks. A three man team with a trainer as commentator would be a welcome change for Sky.
Haha AJ v Spider-Man. What a fight. I missed that. That's why I wouldn't watch anymore he is clueless. I can't remember exact instances at the moment but the amount of times he needs to be prompted by the rest of panel when he clearly doesn't know a well known boxer. Or other times he gambled and gets a name completely wrong, the rest of pundits cringe.
Hopefully he mans up and takes on Bruce Banner afterwards. It'll be a difficult fight but one I'm sure AJ can win as Bruce should be disqualified if he turns into Hulk mid-fight. That must be against the rules.
Sky had the best boxing team covering fights when Ian Darke and Paul Dempsey in the studio were covering the action. Jim Watt has had a great run and it's a long overdue retirement but he was good alongside Darke. Ian Darke covers the football on BT sport he won't be coming back anytime soon bet he gets a decent wedge with them!
Sometimes the 'sound' of the commentator rather then what he says adds to the show. To me he just feels like 'boxing' and you can't replace that easily
Used to like Watt but went downhill this last few years. He seemed to get an idea in his head in the first few rounds, and keep pushing those ideas for the whole fight. Even if the fight has completely turned around since. Please not Macklin to replace him. He should be where he belongs, drinking ****tails in Marbella and pretending world class training and conditioning happens there..
