On the undercard, both Francisco "Chihuas" Rodríguez, Jr. and Victor "El Vikingo" Terrazas were victorious by KO, but José "Piston" López was upset by 15-3-1 Diego Cruz.

 

Shame most of this card overlapped with the HBO PPV. Not even midnight in Cancún.

 

The commentators for Televisa Deportes have Kika Chávez up 49-46, only giving Joya Moreno round 3.

 

Commentators gave Moreno the sixth, narrowing their cards to 58-56 - and she is carrying that momentum into the seventh. Kika getting mauled here, put in headlocks (or forced to administer them on Moreno as she gores in with head down), banged on the midriff and generally roughed up. Less of a boxing match now, more of a street-fight.

 

:rofl Clever move there by Chávez to attempt to steal the round by shoving Moreno hard on the breastplate with her left glove (with the ref behind her back and w/o a clear angle) then following up with a right hand as Moreno was already falling to make it appear like she had scored a knockdown. Ref wasn't buying it, correctly ruled a slip. Moreno round.

 

How about Moreno vs. Bopp, if La Joya ends up going a career 2-0 against Chávez before the night is through? :think

 

Moreno grinding in and drives her cornrow braids up into Chávez's eyes, bothering her badly.

The champ has to be uncomfortable now...blood streaming from both nostrils and now sweat (and bits of hair) in her eyes... and whenever they aren't in a clinch (and those are exhausting in their own right, with Moreno bucking and tossing her weight in) she is getting hit with some hard body shots...

 

Moreno on a roll, swept the last three and tied it up on the commentators' scorecards, now 76 apiece.

 

Jimmy Lennon Jr. announced WBC open scoring and it sounded like it might be a 3 way draw. At least one judge had it "setenta-seis; un empate".
