I still can't believe there's people out there who think Andre was ready and raring to fight GG at SMW.

It's truly baffling.

Yes, GG never pursued it. But it wouldn't have made any difference.

In the last 4.5 years, Andre has had a 9 month lay off, 13 month lay off, a 15 month lay off, and a 19 month lay off.

He requires 2 tune ups for Kovalev due to inactivity.

Logic states that he'd have needed at least 1 tune up for GG, as he'd been out for 19 months and he hadn't fought at SMW for almost 2 years.

By the time Andre would have been ready to fight, GG would more than likely have had too much to lose at that point. During negotiations through the media, GG quickly obtained the IBF MW belt and was then in line to face the winner of Canelo-Cotto for the lineal title. Also, Andre was injured at that point. Then there's HBO's stance on things, who surely would have wanted to have built the fight.

I say all of the above as a big fan of Andre's.

It's just a fantasy to say that GG ducked and and that's why the fight never happened.

Guys like Shock are kidding themselves.

This fight was never really viable.

Both guys were at completely different stages of their careers.

Hopefully we'll still be able to see it at some point.

Ward came in for smith fight at 171 in case he had to go back to 168....the smith fight was his tuneup.....they could have made thr fight for March or April of this year bit golovkin was chasing canelo which he should have known he wasn't getting......we could all see it ....

The fight was viable....instead he's fighting dom wade and Kell brook this year
