Solid matchup. I favor Max by a small margin, wouldn't bet on it.

Rocky was the superior hwt in most all ways vs Frazier.

I like Charles to edge Schmeling in a close decision.. But this would be a very technical fight and a very interesting chess match to watch.

Frazier was faster in every way but only had a left hook. All of Marciano's power punches were great.

I think the word you are looking for is Frazier had a " devastating " left hook, and trust me if it landed on Marciano he would have known all about it.

I didn't say that he didn't have a devastating left hook. That was his only devastating punch. Marciano had a devastating left hook, uppercut, but especially right hand. Frazier was faster and just as tough but very limited punch wise.

The idea has crystallised that Joe Walcott and Ezzard Charles were on the same sort of level as Max Schmeling, or perhaps even a bit better.

If this is the truth, then why did they fail to do to a shot Joe Louis, what Max Schmeling did to a prime one?

Nobody thought them in Schmeling’s class while they were active, and perhaps the truth lies somewhere between the two positions.

Mr is on point. Add that Marciano had the better defense. Joe never changed up so defensively he was easily predictable and timed. Fraziers hook would be ducked by the low weave of Marciano and in turn Joe would be open for Rockys counter right hand.
