    this is about right.

but being 38+ would have been the slippery slope that all fighters face, and lewis knew it.

    1) Vitali was a healthy cut above his other opposition.
    2) Revisit the Levi Billups fight and talk to me about "prime Lewis"
    3) His conditioning was woeful. Nobody disputes that. But his skills were still apparent. He showed huge guts to come back for the win.

He soundly outboxed Levi Billups and that was when he had 17 fights and about 3 years before he started working with steward. This isn't an example of a prime Lewis.. I agree with the part where you said he showed huge guts to take the win over Vitali. But heart and guts was the only thing he had left to rely on.

so u think vitali wasn't really brave, but had cowardzagily waited till lewis was heavily post prime before taking his chances?

Vitali showed some real grit that night and was one half of a memorable clash, but Lewis was an overconfident, fading force. After Rahman he was heavier for Tyson and did not look as sharp. (Before Vitali) Manny Steward claimed Lewis to be in the best shape since Holyfield I - clearly the body was no longer keeping up with the mind. And then there was the smirking after Vitali clocked him in round two - the last time he did that he was starched. Mentally he wasn't there.

Klitscko was in much better shape physically and mentally than Lewis when he was embarrassed by Tyson Fury .

Greatness pushed Lewis over his threshold to grind out a victory against a what would be a future dominator .

Since Wlad never harboured any component that made great champions , he whimpered out like a pure pansy from rounds 1-12.

How can you call this guy an ATG when you compare both their efforts in very similar situations

When Lennox fought Vitali, he was 37 or 38, fading and at his career high weight. He clearly was not near his prime.
