Why is Andre Ward fighting a 40-year-old cab driver?

After fighting two bums as tune-ups (Paul Smith and Sullivan Barrera), Andre Ward is fighting another bums on Saturday. The only difference is that this bum will turn 40 in January.

The guys is Alexander Brand: he has only fought one live body (Badou Jack), and lost to him.

My question is: why would a self-proclaimed P4P n.1 fight such low-quality opposition? Why isn't he chasing Adonis Stevenson, Arthur Beterbiev, or Sergei Kovalev? (By the way, I don't believe the Kovalev fight will ever happen.)

I think Ward is playing the fans for as much money as he can get his hands on: he always talks about fighting the champs but only does so when a champ happens to have the one-dimensional robotic style that he can beat (Kessler, Froch).

He ducked Andre Dirrell, Lucian Bute, George Groves and James DeGale - all crafty slick boxers who Ward would not be able to outsmart. I hope his fans wake up and smell the coffee.

You guys all use fantasy fights to counter me. Kovalev vs Ward is a fantasy fight, because Ward has three fights at LHW and still hasn't set a date to fight Kovalev. He can shoot his mouth all he wants, just like he talked about Dirrell and Bute, but I don't bu it.

If the fight happened and Ward won, I would give him credit. I don't think it will, though. Ward verbally agreed to fight Kovalev, because he saw him as another European robot. A few days later, he started distancing himself and asking for a million tune-ups, probably because he looked more closely at tapes of Kovalev and realized that Kovalev had good boxing ability and could catch him coming in.

 

I apologize for not being a gаy Andre Ward nut-hugger like Shockmaster and many others on this forum. I also apologize for wanting Ward to stop fighting the same style of opponent in every fight (I obviously mean the one-dimensional, straight-line slugger).

 

I'm a dreamer, just ike you. At night I see Ward beating Kovalev and I join in the chorus of praise, but then I wake up and realize it was just a dream.
