In all seriousness, Mayweather Jr. was born in poverty. Black. To crack addict parent pieces of ****. He worked his butt off. He lacks formal education, the man can't even read. Yet became the richest boxer only ever.

Fought and trained through amateur and Olympic trials on nothing but vending machine snacks. He could push his body like few others. And the Mayweather before the "Money" persona was just phenomenal to watch.

Ring Generalship and the athletic ability to pull of what he wanted to do.

No matter who he fought they always ended up fighting his fight. Castillo, Hatton and Maidana had some success but he was quicker on the inside as well.

Sure he missed a few names off: Tszyu, Freitas, Casamayor and Margarito but his greatness was proven in the ring imo.

    Tremendous talent.

Do most Murican boxers come from privileged backgrounds then?:patsch

I don't think anyone on this thread has denied his talent, or ability. Rather the way he cherry picked his way through his career to protect those assets.

Yes. Had he fought the best at there best when he got to welterweight+ then he would have been beaten a few times but at Light weight and super feather he stays undefeated. Had he fought Tszyu at light weighter he might have lost.

The only guys at 147 at that time who would have a chance would be Forrest and Oscar, and they'd both be underdogs in hindsight. Not Shane, Williams, Margarito, or Pacquiao. Considering Floyd's performances against southpaws and Zoo's spotty career, I see Floyd winning that.

If he fought Andrade at the end of his career, he'd likely have lost.

Which is EXACTLY why he didn't fight them at that time. Don't confuse Leonard Ellerbe's business acumen, with Mayflower's natural instinct to avoid threats. :good

More nonsense. Mayweather chased Oscar across weight divisions and made the fight as soon as possible. What are you talking about?

Also, Forrest left 147 well before Mayweather got there. And who knows whether Mayweather would have ever made it to 147 at all if he hadn't been chasing bigger $ fights and belts.

Crawl back under the stone in which you dwell you MORON.

DLH made his debut in 92.

    Mayflower made his in 96.

By 96 Oscar was fighting at 140.

Mayflower was a 130 lb fighter.

By the time Mayflower hit Lightweight in 2002, DLH was fighting at 154. In case your re,****ed brain can't work it out that is 19 lbs higher. Need I go on?

Just shove your half baked OPINIONS up your dirt box, because that is ALL they are worth.

Probably. Why don't you try making your point coherently this time. How do the facts you've just spewed support your claim that Floyd avoided Oscar & was afraid to fight him vs. my claim that Floyd did all that he could to make that fight? I worry about you sometimes, angry, unhinged internet guy :nut

The problem with you lying re****s is really quite simple. You wriggle and squirm when you are exposed. YOU were the moron claiming Mayflower did everything to make a fight with Oscar.

" Chasing him across weight divisions " was your imbecilic claim I believe.

I merely pointed out the stupidity of your ridiculous claim by pointing out the weights, and dates of their respective careers. Again by the time Mayflower made his 147 debut, Oscar had had 2 fights at Middleweight, NOT 154, but full blown Middle against Sturm and Hopkins. Do you see where this is going sh!t for brains? It is merely exposing your fan boyism for what it is.

But hey, don't let the FACTS get in the way of you're pathetic fukking worthless OPINIONS.:nut:patsch

These are in FACT you're scabby words from post 39.

Erm, NO he didn't. Pre Oscar, Mayflower could NOT draw flies to sh!t, which is why Arum dumped him. He was asking for the kind of money that someone like Oscar could command, but his PPV figures were less that 250k.

Mayweather Jr. was a good all-round boxer and was consistent, cool-headed. He was in condition and he stuck to his game plan.
