I agree. It's a shame because physically he has no advantages whatsoever. Even his speed is overrated as he throws a lot of light, fast taps.

One day I want to see Paulie go on a mad run of knockouts.

Yeah, shell of his old self but still enough to outclass aging Euro-level triers like Moscatiello and former domestic regional-level prospects like Tito Bracero. :good

Very, very high ring IQ though. He knows the game inside and out, which is part of why he was able to parlay his career into successful moonlighting in commentary (along with his entertaining personality).

Does loads of radio interviews and podcast appearances, too, probably among the most frequently-featured guests in all of boxing media.

So really, he became more of a crossover star than he probably had any right to be. Overachiever if anything.

I always give props to Paulie.

The guy literally cant punch his way out of a wet paper bag, yet hes still had an extremely successful career and his resume in terms of who he has fought is right up there.

Rarely ever had an easy fight

Do we know if Paulie has said anything in recent years about whether he can still make 140lbs? (been six years, but he isn't exactly a big welter and was in his late twenties when he moved up, so it wasn't like he was still fleshing out his man-strength and "outgrew" the division; more of a financial decision to go after bigger paydays)

Chasing a rematch with Broner to settle their score would seem a logical endgame if he's going to persist in trucking on.

Bracero needs a KO or KD to get a draw.

Good to see you back on IB! Hope the training is going well :bbb

Huge props to Paulie. Was never a big fan of his but the guy has made the most of so little. Got in there w a beast in Cotto at 140 and damned if he didn't hold his own. So fckin what if he wasn't a xover star. He made some decent paydays, was a colorful character and he has all his faculties. He has few peers in the commentating business. I wish the guy all the best!

Wouldn't be surprised if Broner can no longer make 140. He's looking like a tubby little chipmunk right now.
