Would Ali be too small for today's heavyweight division?

Three nothing's knocked him out in comical fashion. Ali the best hwt ever to live who was never koed in comical fashion would knock out Wlad.....quite obviously.

Lol. They did so in comical fashion. Truely great fighters don't get koed in that manner THREE TIMES. ROSS PURITY knocked Wlad out. That's a disgrace Of the highest magnitude. Purity knocks Wlad out but prime Ali does not? Guess again.

Ok then you've made it clear that you've never watched either of those fights. Against Purrity his former trainer forced the ref to stop fight when he was on his feet taking flush shot after shot. Against Brewster the ref stopped the fight as he was walking to his corner after the end of a round. He didn't get poleaxed like you are implying he did.

While not great, Purrity and Brewster were big strong fighters who punched very hard. Ali doesn't fit this mould

In any case you can't judge a boxer's entire career based solely on their worst performances. By the criteria that you yourself have set, you would also be forced to call guys like Jack Johnson, Jack Dempsey and Lennox Lewis non greats for being KO'd by mediocre opponents.

they weren't koed by mediocre opposition.

if you are referring to Flynn possibly koing Dempsey, it may not even have happened and Flynn was a 2 time title challenger whislt demps was obviously green and killed the guy in seconds in the "return".

certainly not when active champions, perhaps Johnson was stopped as a 40+ fatty, he appears to have boxed on forever.

The only example that's valid is prime wlad getting easily koed by retired failure from the previous era Sanders whom had never reached world level when prime... which is interesting seeing as wlads the guy you are trying to defend with your failed argument.

Brewster certainly finished wlad to the canvas.

Purrity would have easily koed wlad if he wasn't getting so much air break from the ref.

Sanders was regarded an easy touch failed fattie retiree by everyone including YOU at the time wlad picked someone so weak for a world title defence yet again.

You only chose to view him as a savage puncher at that precise moment that you looked on in horror seeing your wladdie getting killed in seconds by another nobody.

Splitting hairs. Purity was at best a Journeyman. AT BEST. Sanders and Brewster were nothing's. No great fighters here. Not even very good! They all own ko wins over Wlad and all three kos were comical in nature. WATCH them again.

No hwt koed in comical fashion by nobodies is lasting the distance with Ali at his best.

Where to start. Brewster and Sanders were big punchers. Ali was not, so expecting him to win the same way is a mental stretch. Ali could not hurt Norton, and Wlad's chin is no worse than his.

Brewster and Sanders were also ranked by ring magazine in the top ten. Hardy bums.

Post Brewster Wlad worked on his stamina, and never had any issues gassing

Is 3 Ko's at heavyweight in 68 fights that bad?

Nope. The truth Perry is many famous heavies, guys you think are great were KO'd more often, and by lesser punchers.

    A few examples::

Johnson KO'd by a super middle in Joe Choynski, a no name ( when the fight happened ) in Klondike, and laid out cold vs Willard, who wasn't as skilled as Sanders or Brewster.

Dempsey iced in one round by Fireman Flynn.

Need I say more? Suddenly a loss to Sanders or Brewster doesn't seem so bad.

Wlad record vs boxers is outstanding. Ali was no puncher, he was more of a boxer who never sniffed a big man with skills. This is a tough fight, and Ali would need to be in shape, and young to win.

Post 1973, he could lose via decision.

You know little of Ali. Suspect you are another who did not live through that era.

We are talking prime Ali. Not the Ali who fought Norton.

Wlad fought in a time where there were so many ranked contenders the entire field was watered down. Purity, Brewster and Sanders probably would not be ranked at any time if there was only one top ten hwt contenders.

Purity was a nothing yet he knocked out Wlad in comical fashion.
Sanders is ALREADY forgotten in boxing history yet he knocked out Wlad in comical fashion.
Brewster is another forgotten hwt yet he knocked Wlad out in comical fashion.

Three nothing's ko Wlad comically yet he lasts the distance with the greatest of all hwt champions on his very best day?

Just so you understand Ali's best day would not be post exile. I know you have learning disabilities so things need to be spelled out to you.

I am not sure that Ali possessed the skills, not the size, to fight in the post-modern era. He relied far too much on his physical gifts and granite chin and resolve and lacked the modern skillset. That would be his downfall. Tho I still think he would be rated.

Man, the Klitschko haters are out in full force today.

Forget about Wladimir ruling the entire division for about a decade...let's focus on those few loses that occured a myriad years ago.

Klitschko in his prime was big and FAST...it was unseen during Alis day. A giant who could move and punch with such speed and precision...and power. Look at the one-two that puts down Chris Byrd in the rematch. One of the fastest ones I've ever seen and it was a NUKE.

Ali would have his hands full with Wlad...and he might not beat him at all.
