I was playing fight night and I was Sugar Ray. I was winning the fight and all of a sudden, Tommy threw one of his signature right hands and knock me out cold. Now I know it's a game n everything, But in real life who would you think would win in a fight between these two legends?
Robinson probably had the experience to watch for it and roll with the right hand Robbie's a far cry from the shells Tommy faced Tommy does extremely well at the higher weights, especially 160. He was awesome in the Shuler fight
SRR every day of the week and twice on Sunday's, and he could dispose of Leonard for the matinee performance before the main event in the evening, then give either Duran or Hagler a boxing lesson in the dressing room afterwards. The man was simply THAT good.
You could never count him completely out with that ridiculous combination of speed and power, that's for sure. Having said that he would have to beat Robinson by stoppage and he has one of the great chins. He'd be extremely dangerous early but the longer the fight went the better it would be for SRR i reckon.
Me too but not until Ray faces a tough battle. Pretty similar to Hearns first fight with Ray Leonard.
no, he would not have great chance, his ****py chin would be his worst enemy, robinson wins by ko 80/80 times
I think Leonard, Mayweather, and a few others would have a better chance than Hearns. Hearns had such an Achilles with the chin/stamina issue. Robinson is a guy who would find his chin.
Tommy Hearns was great. But NO WELTERWEIGHT beats the PERFECT FIGHTER... and Ray Robinson as a welterweight was the PERFECT fighter. I should know, cause I saw SRR in his prime several times ringside...Fred Astaire with gloves on was Robbie...
I never or no else alive today saw RR at welter unless they saw him live. But almost all old trainers, boxing writers, etc who did say he was as close to a perfect fighting machine as there ever was. The 2nd best welter in history caught up with Hearns and stopped him. Gotta think RR does the trick within 10rds.
I'm afraid not. SRR would not waste any time on a feeling out process. He would be looking for Tommy's chin from the opening bell, trusting completely in his own whiskers.
