his closest advisors could have probably steered him towards a more financially lucrative career. apparently, the extra money and recognition, is just not worth him having to alter his style a little bit.
It's more than just his boring style. He was offered fights and then him and his management/promoter torpedoed them. Remember last year when he couldn't fight in England because he forgot to renew his passport? Amateur **** like that. He's worse than the Eubanks who flushed the Golovkin and Saunders fights trying to flex and control everything. Ask Gary Hyde (his former manager) or Bob Arum (his former co-promoter) working with Rigondeaux and his team at Caribe was a nightmare.
Rigo is certainly to blame for his wasted career. Whipping ****, creating pumpkin heads, and picasso pizza faces, mangled bones and a trail of destruction that has led to potential opponents afraid to whisper his name as a possible opponent. some opponents have admitted there fear and unpreparedness to take on el chakal. there is no else to blame but the notorius infamous chakal.
most fights end with the looser claiming he thought he won. saying he wants a rematch. saying how close it was. Rigo fights end with jaws wired shut. or faces so deformed they shy away from cameras. yep its Rigos fault no doubt.
3 things 1.Yes, its partially his fault. He made some bad promotional/managerial decisions that kept him out of the ring. 2. He was in a position though where the best fighters straight up refused to fight him. LSC,Frampton and Quigg ALL turned him down. 3.He also went pro relatively late to begin with because...ya know...communism.
His opponents are just as to blame for boring fights as he is. When people engage (Donaire, Amagasa) he's in entertaining fights. Usually once they've felt his power they don't want to know either.
Yes. Caribe have enabled him to destroy his career along with his style. The idea of being ducked is partially true but lets not forget he/his team turned down fights with Wake (agreed by Hyde), Lomachenko (after *****ing on twitter), he failed to move weight in search of a target (could have gone down with Yamanaka mentioning him) and then put on performances that simply bored fans (Agbeko and Francisco). Thats ignoring the bouts that became dull (Cordoba being a great example of that) He had the potential to be a star and to force the big names into action but instead seemed to feel sorry for himself and like he was above fighting anyone and every one. Had he just said "sod this, I'm going to slice through the contenders and make the others run out of viable challengers" then he'd have had a better career. He could have gone through the likes of Wake (recently had a titleshot), Hasegawa (had one a few years ago, getting another soon), Oguni (high ranked contender), Tawatchai (was highly ranked not too long ago), Qiu Xiao Jun (was ranked #1 by the WBC not too far back) Ambunda, Ishimoto, Paypa, Mathebula and maybe even lured the likes of Liborio Solis, Vic Darchinyan and Stuart Hall into the ring. If the best guys won't fight you, the worst thing you can do is sit there on the outside not fighting.
Between Him and Ward...It's hard to split them as the most boring Fighters on the Planet....perhaps Rigo by a whisker.!!!!!
They say Rigondeaux has wasted his career because of his boring style, fans and boxers alike. The big names on his division avoided him, save for Nonito. How can you get the names on your division to fight you? You can't because you are too good. Same thing with Golovkin. Difference is his style is not "boring", the excuses on this case are that he has fought no one.How can you get the names in your division to fight you? You can't because you are too good! Rigondeaux is the best in his division. He shouldn't be chasing, they should be chasing him. But in today's world, the best don't fight the best. One avoids the best and hides behind promoters, networks, money, "resumes", and style of fighting. And fans are okay with this and permit it.
