The bolded part highlights your Norris OCD and an almost paranoid view how you believe others see him

I agree prime v. prime Hagler beats Leonard
Nunn would have beaten Leonard in 1988 or 1989 - he was prime and Leonard wasn't.

Hearns in '84 at JM also beats Leonard, if Leonard decides to challenge him after the so-so performance against Howard.

Now, if Leonard never got the detached retina and continued fighting in '82 through '84, instead of retiring, I see no reason he couldn't have beaten Hearns again.

The only caveat to that being if Leonard first faced Hagler, say in '82 he may taken the kind of punishment that would negatively impact his ability to beat Hearns later.

I think if Leonard fights Hearns without facing Hagler first, Leonard wins.

Leonard-McCallum would have been a chess match. I think it would be close either way.

I think Leonard could have beaten Jackson. He's too smart to get caught by any Jackson haymakers and would punch inside of Jackson's looping shots.

Being that I am not a Leonard "fanboy" I objectively ****yze each possible scenario and opponent on an individual basis.

I see him winning some and losing some.

This is what dispassionate boxing observers do.

Not at all. It's all about SRL. The unadulterated adulation of Norris is due to him putting a pasting on Leonard. I kid thee not.

Absolutely.. Norris is just another conduit by which he uses to slam Leonard. Start a thread on Leonard's fight with Camacho, and he'll make Hector look like the second coming of the savior while once again claiming Leonard was prime.. Hell If Leonard came out today at age 60 and got sparked by canelo Alvarez, then Canelo would be his new hero and of course Ray would still be prime..

    Oh, I see.

Yeah, Leonard was even more shot for Camacho than against Norris.

It's weird to hate any fighter to the point that you can't objectively ****yze anything they might be involved with.

    Oh well.

I'm not even sure that he really does. I think he gets a kick out of seeing people get hot under the collar on this subject, which is exactly why he kept coming back to the well for the past 10 years. A lot of older posters ignore him. But he knows he can always count on fresh meet when new ones arrive.

Quite a feat, really - given the lack of material he has to work with. He has made more comebacks on this topic than SRL had retirements and returns. There are quite possibly some Broadway shows that haven't lasted over as long an elapsed time.

That said, despite this being a 16 page thread, in the scheme of things, it hasn't taken all that long to become entirely and overly familiar with the redrooster pattern of eternal whining (re Leonard) combined with sycophantic praise (re Norris), verging on the hysterical. And so it has its limits in the interest-stakes.

    Nonetheless, fresh meat, be warned.

you could also look at Leonard in terms of how he compares with Norris N Jackson

When it came to Norris, his strength was in his sharp reflexes, and sheer speed (both hand & foot)

whereas Jackson, his strength was in his sheer irresistible might

Leonard falls into the middle of both of them

He had great speed when as compared to the opponents of his day - Kalule, Green, etc but, compared with Norris, he could never match it

Remember that when we are evaluating talent, it is advisable to stick with facts

    Norris 120

    SRl 106

slam him? It's what I use to evaluate him

leonard was never scared of those fighters that were slow and couldnt hit hard; he was however of those that were fast and hit hard

as for Camacho, I've made it quite clear that whileRay was past his pprime, people like you keep ignoring the other side of the equation which is that Hector was just as far gone in addition to him being much the smaller man

    so it evens out

That being said, Hector knocked him out because he was the superior fighter

Hearns beat Ray no matter if he faces Marvin or not

Because now you've got Tommy with nine more pounds of muscle, with even greater speed, and experience

simply put, Tommy will put Ray away, my bet would be it would go up to eight but I wouldnt be surprised it ended sooner

I just dont have much faith in Leonard when pitted against the better opposition

and the opposition like Tommy & Terry, finally caught up with him and passed him up
