Yea, flash knockdown. Meaning his legs were taken out from under him after a punch. Quick recovery or not, the man was knocked down. Correct? Unless this is an off balance shot that we're speaking of. I have not seen this fight.

But a flash knockdown still means you were hurt. It took your legs, even if it was briefly. That means your nervous system took a shock and short circuited.

 

I would have said you're completely wrong until recently because Ward's athleticism and skill would have negated Kovalev catching him that flush but Ward looks like he's slowing down lately. I still think Ward's skills can win him a decision but there is a real chance now that he gets stopped.

If your nervous system was shocked, you were hurt. Just because you recovered, doesn't mean you didn't get hurt by the punch. If you didn't get hurt by the punch, you'd be standing upright, not picking yourself up off the ground. (again, assuming you didn't lose your balance/trip)

He's not Superman. His legs got taken out from under him. No shame in it.

i.e - You may take the first one, or even the first 2 or three. But eventually, shots like that will finish you. Pretending it didn't hurt you is ludicrous.

 

There is something else to consider. If Kovalev catches him but doesn't finish him, he may resort to head butting and cut Kovalev badly like he did to Kessler.

 

boones flawed just about every great fighter.. he seems to have flashes of greatness. say what you want about his record there is no shame in going down against boone. he is one hell of a test
