I thought Andre looked nervous standing next to KOvalev and
that the harder man was the russian. I'm really not envisioning
anything other than a late stoppage by the champion TBH. Ward
couldn't make eye contact when they shook hands twice and
KOvalev had to initiate both handshakes as well. To me that always
    shows weakness and/or fear.

Actually Kovalev knows better than to buy into that "no power" hype. Walking away he said..."I know...but he (Ward) is smart though." Kovalev is a BOXER puncher...he knows he is not just trading shots with some can in there, he will have to play chess with one of the smartest fighters on the planet. And he won't be 50 years old this time.

Kov was using everything to help him last night. He probably talked at length to Brand about Dre's power, but did Brand tell Kov about how good of a body puncher Dre is and how he got tired and how his punches lacked zip because of the body shots? Kov looked a bit scared last night because Ward is not as small as he thought that he was. Interviews in the past also show Kov is very concerned about Ward. Don't let last nights interview fool you. Kov knows that he will be in a fight and that power alone does not win fights.

If power was the be-all, end-all of boxing: there are many great champions you would have never heard of.

The obsession some fans on here have with punching power and KOs is kind of hilarious. I remember thinking that way, as a teenager. KO power is nice to have, but it's certainly not everything, nor is it required to be a great boxer.

Lep, no offense...but you're not a fighter so what you read into is what YOU read into as an armchair. I'm not an eye test kinda guy. At this level, fighters aren't scared of each other unless they try to do something to cheat.

Ward seemed ****ed that Kov came into the ring, and Kov looked like why am I here. But both understood why **** happened.

Wards fans talk about the fight to everyone. Kov's few bandwagon fans talk to Wards fans specifically because they are certain Kov wins and will talk confidence but not real boxing. Kov's true fans are concerned though. I saw this phony confidence on display before the Matthysse Garcia fight and I see it now. They are certain Kov wins lol. I used to be also, but not now.

after having a fight with the adrenalin just subsiding having to face your opponent who is calm freshly dressed and pretty intimidating, ward looked a little like he didnt want him in there, edgy. and i dont believe hes scared of kovalev.

but look at hopkins coming dressed in a blue suit eyeing up kovalev after his fight with caparello. the fighter, who was looking for a nice interview and easy way out to go to sleep. hopkins fronted kovalev who used the translator, kovalev used that as a buffer.

no one wants to be fronted straight after a fight, especially against another top fighter. if paul smith walked in demanding a rematch we wouldnt of seen this reaction. ward wanted to have a one on one and get back to the dressing room.

Body language doesn't mean jack in this sport. They both understand why they had to be in the ring together. The fight is on. Some fans need that edge mentally and post a garbage opinion. I believe that what you're saying is genuine but trust me when I say this.

Fighters want to be great and the only way that that happens is by beating another pfp fighter. Both can't wait to fight this fight. Boxing isn't different than any other sport. Football, basketball and baseball players don't go into games scared, and neither do fighters. They want to put their skills on display which is why they made a career of the sport. We will read from both fans fighters on how one is scared of the other. That's fake to me, but at least it makes them feel better.
