By the way, BMI and FFMI are different. BMI's essentially worthless as it just measures mass regardless of composition. FFMI specifically measures fat-free mass (hence the name). Don't get them confused or you're going to end up with some funky numbers that'll totally skew your understanding. Any fat ass would probably have a BMI in the 30s and it wouldn't be an achievement in the slightest. Solis, for example has a BMI of around 35. That's no indication of anything other than an eating disorder. Joshua's FFMI of 26.5 indicates a man with more ability to put on muscle than the absolute best full time bodybuilders. Significantly more suspicious.

You would need a precise body fat % to accurately calculate Joshua's FFMI and you can't accurately judge someone's body fat % by eye as people carry fat in different places. If Joshua has 10% body fat then his FFMI is 25.4 which is (according to some website) exactly the average for top bodybuilders in the pre steroid era. Training and nutrition has of course improved since then. Joshua's lean muscle mass is high but not ridiculously so. There is no real reason why it can't be natural. Some people are obviously going to be on the high end. Some people are going to be above average. I also read that for a bodybuilder your FFMI has to be 30 or above to be really questionable. Any pro athlete could be using but to me it's not impossible or even all that surprising for there to be the odd heavyweight boxer who's FFMI is in the upper percentile.

Agree. Let's forget BMI as it is useless. FFMI similarly is not a foolproof indicator either.I happen to know someone, rather well, who's pre steroid FFMI was 25.8, and is currently 29.9. What AJ has done is accheivable without the gear, whether he has used or not. Although, if you had to place money on it, I'd be betting on he has, safer bet.

Those are top bodybuilders though. Joshua's a boxer. It's unrealistic to think that a man who has to run and spar in addition to other training and conditioning exercises is going to end up with more lean mass than a smaller man who's able to devote all his efforts to muscle building. Advances in training and nutrition alone don't account for that. Besides, in all important respects, training principles haven't really changed in the last hundred years. The only major difference is, you guessed it, drugs. Arnold in his prime had an FFMI of around 28, and needless to say he wasn't the least bit natural. Anyone who's only going to question an FFMI of over 30 should basically not bother. 25 is the number for a reason.
What an incredible lie. The Masai are tall, maybe as much as 6ft average for males but 6'5 for males and 6' for females is delusional, unsupported nonsense. The tallest people on earth are Europeans. Most African populations have an average male height of around 5'7.

He had the same type of jaw that other sufferers of Acromegaly had. Athletes do get ripped from consuming less calories. It's partly genetics. But around 95% of men who train hard can be as lean as AJ if they diet. Of course, it's hard and there's really no point doing so except for looks, since for most sports have a bit more bodyfat than that is fine.
What do you class as big ? Some 5'6 guy waddling around with 20 inch arms and 30 inch legs ? 6'6 and 250 pounds is big. Heavyweight boxers are big. The tall guys with a bit of muscle on their frames always get called "big man". Who's bigger ? Lee Priest or Anthony Joshua ?

I just googled him. Pics come up of him in varying sizes. Some in which his physique looks 100% naturally achievable. But at his biggest he's clearly taking something, I agree.
