does anyone else cringe when mma fighters think they are actually good fighters?

lets have a look at nate diaz's "mad boxing skills" who fought and beat conor mcgregor on a ppv that sold like 1.5 million.

i mean no disrespect to mma fighters. but I can box better than this. i'm sure many of you on here could too. considering boxing is probably the main art in mma, this is pretty embarrassing...

i will always see boxers as more of a professional at fighting....

    Haha I know right?
And I feel the same. Boxers will always be the better, more professional athletes in my book. That's why I find it sad that some boxers even consider moving to MMA :(

Honestly, this stuff is so crazily ignorant.

A mixed martial artist is NOT a boxer, they have striking skills - so yeah, looking at it from a boxing point of view judging their boxing technique is just ridiculous. It's like watching a chess player saying their checkers game is weak.

Saying that BECAUSE their boxing is not "good" that they are not good or as professional fighters just makes me want to face palm so badly, whenever I see something like this said. Again with chess and checkers - MMA has a different level of tools and strategy involved, I love boxing but it's much more straight forward and simple which kindof makes it easier to watch and gather whats going on, though even THEN the majority of boxing fans watch a fight and are going "He needs to come forward and hit that other guy more" missing all the subtle things which stop said experienced professional boxer from doing the thing that couch fan are demanding they do.

Its all nice and easy throwing shade when you don't know what you're talking about.

In anticipation of people deliberately misintepreting what I'm saying I should add that I'm not saying MMA fighters would do well against boxing, but generally speaking I'd back an equivalently skilled MMA fighter in a actual proper fight between a boxer and MMA fighter - if nothing else because technically speaking if someone like Floyd Mayweather decided to join MMA they could using all their boxing skills, add a few other things to their inventory and be allowed to do more things than they normally are and then fight and beat a clone of themselves using that.... much more "goes" and is involved.

Mma is more about wrestling than striking. The rules reflect that, since many effective strikes are considered fouls. If you put mma guys in the ring with a boxer or a muay thai kickboxer and they weren't allowed to do chokes and take downs then their striking would look very poor. But then boxers take down defense is very poor as well. Each style has holes in it. The stance of a boxer is too wide for kickboxing, so when they try, they get their legs kicked out from under them. Kickboxers usually aren't as good at movement and putting together combinations as boxers either. But they will mess you up with elbows and knees in a clinch. All martial arts are limited because they are refined to do certain things or follow certain rules which are not universally applicable. Personally, I think all of these hand to hand forms need a component for dealing with people who have weapons.

It doesn't matter unless you're as tough as Diaz or unless you can knock him out.

Best boxer in mma is by far jorge Masvidal.

Most overrated boxing in the ufc are the Diaz bros. horrible footwork, balance, and zero tech on their punches.

yeah, but you dont have to worry about simultaniously defending from kicks and take downs. mma fighters will never box anywhere near as well as boxers because boxers train to focus on the opponents gloves, mma fighters have to be aware of everything.
boxing is a more refined competition with a limited method of attack, mma has unlimited methods of attack.

    Yes.

A perfect example is KJ noons 11-2 boxer, 13-9 as an mma fighter. How has he been beaten... taken down over and over again with **ease**.

Yes Nate Diaz's boxing in that video might seem below mediocre, you gotta remember he probably had to train BJJ, wrestling, kickboxing etc that day.

Mma fighters have 2-5 training sessions a day and gotta keep all their bases covered and all tools sharp.

He's also a black belt in bjj which is a hell of a feat if you know anything about bjj.

They're too slow. They're also too worried about other types of attacks...like getting kicked in the head, elbowed, kneed, getting choked out, or getting a limb snapped.
