The problem BJS has got is whilst he holds a belt and is probably in the top 3 at 160, he has no following to garner the big paydays he's probably expecting.

He won the title 8 months ago and hasn't done a lick since except posturing.

Regardless of the true numbers, BJS was offered a career high payday vs Golovkin and turned it down. He beat the weakest belt holder in a close fight and has no other good wins on his CV; he should have jumped at the offer, but he knew and his team knew, that he wasn't ready.

It was a massive duck, end of story.

I'm not the biggest fan of Raphael, but he has the right to air his opinion, regardless of his lack of boxing background. Most people on this site have never boxed, yet they constantly post their views. Nothing wrong with it.

As for the Golovkin situation, I think every fan of the sport, regardless of who you support, should always point out ducking. I don't care if you support a particular fight or not, if they do something that harms the sport then it shouldn't be brushed under the carpet.

Dan Rafael is a respected boxing journalist. Instead of Saunders slapping him how about he gets in the ring with a decent fighter. He's had one scheduled fight this year (against world no.46 Max Bursak) which he withdrew from with a "hand injury" a couple of weeks before whilst looking nowhere near niddleweight. Since then he has turned down several opponents. Should journalists not report this?

It has always surprised me how people expect all sportsmen to be classy and gentleman-like.

A basics level of decency is expect and BJS falls well short of those standards.

I actually think it makes more sense to there to be some foul mouth types just like there is in society as a whole.

Saunders has made himself look like an immature chav but it's not like he has physically assaulted anyone or anything. Boxers have done much worse than call people names.

I agree with you that he is one of our most skillful technicians. But the facts are that 1mill would still be a career high payday for BJS and he turned it down. He turned Golovkin down.

Those are the facts. If he was so keen to face him he should have done it.

BJS isn't worth more than that really, he doesn't have a big fanbase, isn't a big name and people know that he's not the best in the division so can't call himself the champion.

If he wants to build his career without fighting GGG then he can do it successfully by taking dangerous fights like Jacobs, Eubank rematch etc and then fight Golovkin then when his stock is higher. But instead he's been out for a year and turned down a decent opponent on a card that would have given him a lot of exposure.

Dan can air his opinion but then when Billy Joe fires back, no matter how vulgar it may be, he has the right also to fire back.

Journalists can report what they want but Billy Joe then has the right to counter some of the journalist's claims. Watch BJS's last IFL interview and he goes through the Golovkin "duck".

There is far more money down the line when GGG beats Brook and if Saunders beats Canelo, which he has a very, very strong chance of doing if the judges are fair.

Either way, Billy Joe offered Eubank Jr a rematch this year and it was all set to happen but Senior turned it down. How can anyone call him a ducker when he was willing to take that dangerous rematch?

I'm of the opinion that BJS and Eubank are as bad as eachother, I don't think either of them want the GGG fight really.

I would like to see BJS vs Jacobs or Quillin or something of that calibre next. He had a lot of momentum off the back of the Lee win and it seems like he wasting it.

BJS doesn't beat Canelo. Not a chance.

Secondly, in what way is Eubank Jr a dangerous fight? He's someone who has twice ducked the chance to fight for a world title.

I make no judgement on Saunders but this is the problem with 160 at the moment. Saunders is holding out for a Canelo fight for the publicity and payday (not to mention legit chance of victory). Jacobs, by his own admission, is holding out for a Saunders fight because he won't face Golovkin for the money on offer and thinks he'll get more if he beats Saunders. Canelo is holding out for the availability of any middleweight champ who isn't Golovkin. Oh well, maybe time to hit 168 Gennady...
