I only saw Tischenko in action in the semi-final and obviously in the final tonight too. And I missed a bit of the semi-final as well.
What do you always like saying? Inform yourself or something like that? Strange statement coming from someone that is an ethnic Slav, you should learn more about your people. History and etymology time 1) There is no such thing as a Jewish suffix amongst European Jews. Some may be common with Jews such as Mann (which gets dropped to Man outside Europe) Stein, Berg which are all native German or for Jews from Slavic countries sky and owicz are very common. owicz is a Polish spelling for ovych or ovich which is a patronymic meaning "Son of" like O'Conner for the Irish or the suffix 'vicius' for Lithuanians. Hence why Patronymics or 'middle names' like Volodymyr and Vitali Volodymyrovych Klychko end in ovych, son of Volodymyr, their Father. The same thing was done with family names when they were first handed out roughly a thousand years ago. Lev is a common Eastern Slavic first name especially in Western Ukraine and while biblical in origin, also means Lion. Historically Western Ukraine was "Halych" and had a lion for it's coat of arms and its still used today in Lvivska Oblast and the city of Lviv. The Kingdom of Halychyna-Volhynia which was comprised of most of modern day Western Ukraine and Southern Belarus was one of three successor states to Kievan Rus after it fell in the mid 13th century. Lev Danylovych a ruler of the Kingdom is the second most famous ruler behind only his Father Danylo. Although the sublime former HW Roman Romanchuk was born and raised in Lviv but moved to Russia around age 16 after initially not making the Ukrainian team as a Junior. That ended up being a huge loss.
That's fair, I though you were going to mention Tulaganov, but yeah he Brazilian seemed to nick it, and the Russo fight could've gone either way. Tischenko was a bit of a disappointment this olympics, which is weird considering he won gold lol. I've yet to watch the final, but he can't use his reach for ****, and tends to slap with his hooks and fight a bit like a spastic. Levit really impressed me though, has great pro potential, just wish he was a little younger.
I too thought he has great pro potential. How old is he? I did a quick google but didn't see it atsch
Levit was robbed against the Russian. Kazakhstan should be celebrating it's first heavyweight gold medal. Straight robbery.
I'm just glad BJ Flores was keeping it real with his comments. "The scorecards were written before the match started", was his comment, if I'm not mistaken. lol I feel bad for the Kazakh. I wish him well.
Cheers. That doesn't seem too old to turn pro, these days, at all. Looking forward to seeing him go for it!
