Yes, Canelo, like many men, filled out some in his early 20s. He went from being a kid who made 154 very easily (as evidenced by his weight in the Hatton fight) to a man who now probably couldn't make 154 without ruining himself. The far more important point though, which you've ignored, is that he is visibly a much better boxer now, with better skills, than when he was 20. You should watch some of his fights some time-- I think he's better than you've read. :good

So you're not going to answer the question? What is your basis for insisting that Canelo doesn't hit anywhere near as hard as Hagler?

    I'd say he is better.

Canelo does have power, that's undeniable. He doesn't have the same skills as Hagler to actually land those punches tho.

Canelo has not the mobility nor the speed nor the power nor the armoury of Hagler. I doubt he has the durability and chin of Hagler either.

The chances of Hagler's top opposition doing well against Canelo are, therefore, much, much better than what they turned out to be against Hagler.

He could beat any of them, but the odds of beating all of them is less.

I wasn't avoiding the question. Some people have a life you know. Because Hagler has knocked out bigger, better fighters and has a higher ko percentage. Canelo couldn't knock past it Cotto out. I'm pretty certain Hagler decimates Cotto.

Yeah, he's a solid puncher at 154, nothing more, nothing less.

:lol:I have seen some of his fights. He's actually a good 154 strap holder. I never realized what a middleweight he was though. Thanks for letting me know. But he's such a great boxer now that he was outboxing fast handed and nothing else, chinless Amir Khan 8 pounds above Khan's best fighting weight. Oh wait, Khan was actually boxing at least as well as Canelo before the chinless wonder got hammered. And yet, Canelo's gone up in weight from 154 to 155, so yeah he's obviously bigger:lol:. If he can't make 154 without ruining himself anymore like you wrote, why doesn't he go to middleweight and have the big money fight against the champ instead of demanding that the Middleweight champ go down and 'ruin himself' instead?

You took the time to reply to the q but didn't answer it because you "have a life"? Whatever you say.

Is this like how Hagler "couldn't knock out" Marcos Geraldo, who'd already been knocked out by numerous smaller, no-name fighters? :think
The fact that a future Hall of Famer who's only been stopped twice in his entire career went the distance with Canelo isn't nearly as meaningful as you're trying to make it seem.

Lol. I used to like him. He actually has a good resume at 154. Even though it was very close, the performance against Lara was really cool. I used to be a fan of Cotto and Daniel Jacobs. Then they all found excuses to duck GGG. Actually considering how much you're overrating Canelo, it sounds like you're the one that hasnt seen him fight lol.

Yes it is considering that he was stopped at 147, not the 154 Canelo weight that Saul can barely make. Miguel is a hall of Famer due to his work at 140 and 147 where he was peak, not 154 where he lost to Trout or 160 where he caught a crippled Sergio. Do you believe any version of Miguel lasts the distance with Hagler? Seriously? Do you believe Canelo hits anywhere near as hard as Hagler?
