The Chinese kid has some speed and landed some good shots, but he's got to work a little more to offset the Cuban fighting his fight and coming forward.
AIBA just suspended a bunch of judges and refs from the Olympics but the fights that were fought...the decisions stay the same. WTF...
But the Cuban didn't land **** though, just following him. IMO i don't understand how people can call one guy brilliant for doing one thing and saying another didn't do enough by doing the same thing.
Well for starters, Chebotarev was robbed vs Shakhsuvarly, and a few highly ranked Russians were beat in close fights following their bye. I swear most of you guys weren't even following the olympics until now, and are just jumping on the 'Russians are cheaters' bandwagon. If I had a dime for every time someone said Conlan won because he busted Nikitins face up, I'd at least have a dollar.
Either bad tactics or good sportsmanship by Hu to not target the cut. No real adjustment from him after the cut.
https://vimeo.com/179093973 Watch the fight. Turn off the sound. Starting from 3:45 on, Conlan started getting tagged. He had a first good minute, but a lot of his punches landed on the gloves of Nikitin, who kept a high guard. He got tagged by a hard shot 3:45 and again at 4:52. Those are clear scoring punches, that's how amateur scoring works. Conlan also hit by a lot of body shots and clean shots in between. You may not like it, but the facts are facts. Nikitin landed harder and cleaner scoring punches in round 1. Conlan threw a lot of pitty-pat that landed on gloves.
I edged the first to Hu, but I'm trying to put myself in the judges' shoes. I don't give them enough credit to not give it to the Cuban out of "generalship".
This will just get ignored man. That fight wasn't a robbery any way you cut it, Conlan is just a big crybaby.
