Yeah, that was a pathetic farce of an excuse not to fight Golovkin. Still though, not saying he beats Giardello but if you put Canelo and the top 154-lbers today in the same ring as Giardello and many of his top middleweight foes, today's 154-lbers would probably be the bigger men. There's a reason we've had so few top 5'7/5'8 middleweights in the past 30 years...
What is Canelo compared to **** Tiger, Gene Fullmer and Rubin Carter even? He doesn't compare....and Giardello beat and drew with these men. Case closed.
Oh, I'll concede that he could "compete" with them, for a few rounds, maybe,...before things turned out very bad for him in vs all three. You can't compare the flotsam of this day and age, i.e., the guys he's been successful with so far in his career, with any of the three that I've listed. You know how those fights would have turned out for Catchweight Canelo.
