yes becuz he faced a far better version of Hagler. esentially the true Hagler altho somewhat edited version from superhuman down to near superhuman while lennard managed to snag the worst hagler imaginable

Cuevas & Duran are good. Shuler was also impressive. Hutchins.

Andries no. Medal no. He resembled the sickly version that lost to lennard in 81 except at 154 and I believe was never the same again

altho Hearns lost to lennard, lennard lost to both Camacho & Norris who are faster men

Why do you rate the Hutchings win over the Andries one,? How would you explain Hutchings being better than Dennis?

Also, did you actually answer the brief?

yes but leonard's is too short

He needs additional wins over Pryor & Curry or at least Nunn N Norris

The hagler win for srl was impressive by name only. Hagler was shot and gave away the first 4 rounds with a terrible game plan and still only lost by a narrow margin

I do not think a case can be made for Hearns here. The Hagler victory was huge (whereas Hearns got knocked out), Leonard did beat a slightly younger Duran and did beat Hearns himself when both were in their prime.

    This is a mediocre ****ysis

    Hutchings was decent, nothing special.

Andries, at least, held a title.

Hagler was more prime against Hearns, but he wasn't shot against Leonard.

Styles make fights and Hagler had the style to destroy Hearns - just as Barkley did three years later.

Hearns was KO'd three times in title fights, twice in his prime, the third when he was past it but still very viable.

Leonard losing to Norris hurts him a bit, but the vast majority of experts feel he was significantly past prime, and don't weigh it heavily

Nobody, except probably you and Foxy, consider the Camacho/Leonard fight to be anything more than what it was - A cheap ploy by PPV organizers to make a quick buck off two name guys who were shot.

Just like Hearns losing to a nonentity when he was 40 plus, nobody condiders the Camacho loss in evaluating Leonard's resume and legacy.

Hearns arguably has the better resume owing to longevity, ability to move along the weights and more emphatic wins but Leonard was the better all round fighter for me. Better balanced and more watertight.

The stoppage losses to Hagler KOby3 and Barkley KOby3 don't help Hearn's case. Hearns almost avenged the loss to Barkely but came up on the short end of a split-decision in their rematch. Head to head Leonard stopped Hearns in a great fight. In the rematch I felt that Hearns deserved the decision but it was scored a Draw. Hearns stopped Duran KO2 and beat Benitez by decision. Leonard stopped Benitez in a great fight and went 2-1 (1) vs. Duran (the loss was close) Leonard beat Hagler in a close decision. Leonard was stopped just once and by that time he was already in the Hall of Fame and had no business fighting in the ring.

I'll go with Leonard but I am a huge Hearns fan.

Doesn't leave himself as open when attacking and generally more compact with hands held higher. I hope you didn't think I meant he was wearing nappies/diapers.

    "mediocre anelysis" my ass!

you're still smarting from your lumps handed by yours truly

Camacho's win is perfectly valid, that's why I used it

Leonard has never done well against speedier opponents

otherwise, we would see fights with prime Hagler instead of shell Hagler

and Nunn instead of Lalonde. What a damn SHAME that when lennard felt like fighting, it was against such mediocre talents

so it's natural to assume that the TYPE of opponent he avoided is the type he would LOSE to

and he did - both times

Lennard was old? past his prime?

So was Camacho who moved much farther up in weight, gave away 3 inches in height and SEVEN in reach!

bi-otch, what you talking about. you know you got no excuses!

my boy was too much fighter for rey

my man forced the fight, took his best shot, and ate thru him cancer

It was all Camacho, 24/7 who set up shop on lennard's chest and consumed him like liquid fire

WTF! lennard was never awesome to begin with

The Norris bout was a different kind of humiliation and was achieved by way of sheer speed alone

my man owned the night even at the stare down as he was not unnerved one bit and the fight itself was child's play for him. anyone wanting to take up the sport if they want to see how it's properly done, should watch this fight!

Clearly? Even though Leonard beat him and then, as someone said, had Tommy in a whole lot more trouble than Tommy had him in, even though Ray didn't score a knockdown.
