The newspaper I found stated specifically that Schmeling lips were cut and nose bleeding while Sharkeys eye was closed shut. No mention of any bleeding nose or mouth from Sharkey.

It isn't the same at all. Braddock and his manager Joe Gould got 10% of Mike Jacobs profits from the heavyweight title for ten years under the promotional banner of The Twentieth Century Sporting Club. They got nothing from Louis, Roxborough, or Black. Mike Jacobs was a promoter not a manager.

The crux of the matter is Gould and Braddock took 10% of Jacobs promotions of the heavyweight title for ten years, they did not take it from
Louis or his managers , now, for the last time ,do you see the difference?

I wonder what a clear tallied figure of the 10% over 10 years might be?
Jacobs not the sort of man to detail every cent, I'm sure.

You're right, the deal ended acrimoniously Jacobs agreed to it because he needed control of the heavyweight title and Louis was obviously the champion in waiting if he could only get Braddock into the ring ,the last thing Jacobs wanted was for Gould and Braddock to go and renegotiate a fight with Schmeling who would probably have beaten Braddock and taken the title to Germany.

Its a waste of time trying to tell you anything because you do not have the capacity to absorb knowledge, its as though you haven't even seen the replies. You would be much better on a forum on your own ,asking and then replying to your own points. You will never improve because you simply cannot listen.

Was reading some of Schmeling's biography today interesting factoids from this fight: the early edition newspapers were sent to print in the 13th round with the headline Schmeling retains title.
Also Tunney visited Max in the dressing room immediately after fight and told him the judges verdict was a miscarriage of justice.
Also the Schmeling camp did not want gunboat as the ref because he was a close friend of Sharkey's but Schmeling himself did not mind.
23 of 25 ringside reporters said they had Schmeling ahead.

In the book Schmeling said he tried to be gracious and humble over the loss. So maybe that's why he said it was fairly close. Most accounts say the fight was blatant robbery and his autobiography seems to provide evidence that it was. New York's mayor also came into dressing room to console him.
I will say I would of liked more on this topic for the book but the whole fight and its aftermath fits onto maybe 1 page or a page and half and he moves on to going back to Germany. Then coming back for the Walker fight. He does say his manager dropped the ball on the prospect of a 3rd Sharkey fight.
Jacobs his manager was offered 12 percent of the gate which was customary to challengers of the day. But Jacobs still steaming from the unfair verdict and the fact that Max had been champion demanded more and this gave Sharkey's camp all the excuse they needed to look elsewhere for their next bout. Schmeling says he regrets that because he would of been fine with 12 percent he was that confident he could beat Jack. And that Jacobs didn't clear the offer with him before he turned it down

I used to become adamant about robberies with ringside stats such as these.

Now I'm very more casual about the word.

For example something like 40 out of 50 reporters felt Valuev beat Holyfield, I disagreed with them. If I haven't seen a fight I won't call it a robbery. I'd maybe put an asterix next to it and regard it a close fight but that's about it.

Almost every fight a belles a robbery can be scored the way of the victor given a bit of benefit of the doubt.

How am I to know how I'd feel about this fight if I can't see the full fight myself?

I only listed newspaper reporters. Only 4 out of 15 reporters, who scored the bout for Sharkey, were from Boston. Boston Traveler scored it a draw.
