Yeah, business-wise this was a no-brainer for Golovkin. I'm curious to see if this will wind up being the beginning of a British invasion type of scenario. And if it does turn into something like that, I'm curious what HBO will make of all that - as ideally, I have to believe they're more inclined to keep Gennady on our side of the pond.

They may go all out in a an attempt to take the play away from Showtime and Haymon who are clearly making an attempt to co-opt the recent successes of the Brits. But HBO is stingy as hell, so I doubt they're too keen on the idea of the matches taking place in the UK.

I'm expecting Brook to try and clinch a lot, smothering Golovkin's work while he pot shots on the outside working the jab. This is what Brook did with Porter. It's also how triple Gay beat triple G at the 2004 Olympics. The question to be asked here is will that tactic work over ten or twelve rounds, or will GGG adjust? Can he overpower Brook, and how good's his chin for a 160lber?

The question is and should only be:
What round will the MW KO the WW?

that wont work for even 1 rd. people cant seem to be able to take all the pieces of the puzzle and make a complete picture of the situation. too many are getting stuck on individual pieces without taking into account what that little piece actually means in relation to the whole.
i read, "brook has a great jab", and i think, "yes, and each time he throws it he will be getting one back from the hardest puncher in the division". that would be interesting if he was fighting the best welterweight, maybe the best jmw, but he will be matching jabs with the hardest hitting mw in the modern era. nobody whos gone a rd with ggg says his power is over rated.
it will take no more than 5 answered jabs before brook realizes that, although he is successful connecting his jab, it doesnt affect the power of the jab he is receiving in return and he is suffering more damage than he is inflicting.
its going to look like ggg vs a smaller gabe rosado.

GGG could set up a good British assassin monicker in the future. Make a name by beating the British fighters. Murray and Brook are down. After BJS and Eubank jr. are out of the picture move up and fight Degale, Callum Smith and Groves.

GGG has the potential to milk the Brits for all their worth.

I can understand the business side of this for GGG, low risk, high reward and big exposure in UK etc. and that noone is eager to face him @ 160 but I'd still prefer if It was someone like Heiland or Khurtsidze, even though they'd be called bums by GGG haters, I think they'd be willing to take the fight on short notice and would give better fights than Brook.

I like it. "The British Assassin" seems a fitting name to help sup' up his "good boy" image.

I don't think I mentioned his name in the context you seem to be insinuating.

In fact, my mention of Ward (and Lampley) was rather incidental. It just so happened that recent idea that Lampley attributed to Ward is applicable to the Gennady-Brook situation.
