I and probably everyone else had Tommy well ahead on points even though he'd been sorely wounded in the 6th, 7th rounds

Tommy looked very much weight drained having made 145 was it?

very unhealthy for a man 6-1

still, Tommy proved you beat Leonard using movement, side to side having watched films of the Bonds fight, and noting Sugar's limitations as a fighter which weren't fully realized until the Norris bout

If there's something wrong with it, explain what it is

    Leonard had the edge here.

My view about the second fight - I thought Hearns edged it courtesy of the knockdowns but,as has been already mentioned,Ray had Tommy going in the last round and if it had been scheduled for fifteen,Ray would have probably scored a stoppage.

By the same token some will say if the first encounter was over 12 Hearns may have won.

Leonard has wins over Hagler ,Duran, Hearns , Benitez,Kalule, he clearly has a better resume than Hearns.

    • Unofficial AP scorecard: 126-122 Leonard
    • Unofficial New York Times scorecard: 124-123 Hearns
Hearns may have been in front,I had him so, but "well ahead " is an overstatement. Then again no one would expect you to be objective on the subject of Ray Leonard, I see you managed to get Norris's name in. Fan boy strikes again!

Kalule? Now people are trying to make something out of Kalule

He was nothing then, and over time, we shouldnt expect his "legend" to grow

remember, this was the same guy who was stopped by 10-0 Davey Moore

It's only an impressive feat for those who know nothing about him!

you forget, Hearns also has wins over Benitez, & Duran, and in addition Cuevas and Hill

Not to mention, a draw with Leonard

I know, it's not as impressive as Terry's and Tommy barely survived leonard's assault, but a draw is a draw

btw, Leonard's losses to Norris N Camacho bring down his standing dramatically

    Tommy won the first five

    Lost rounds 6, & 7 big

round eight, even in a round leonard SHOULD HAVE, but failed to put him away (like Hagler)

rds, 9, 10, 11, 12, all Hearns simply by moving and sticking

until finally, Tommy's over conditioning in the late rounds finally did him in

Leonard's clumsy stalking and throwing haymakers every minute showed me why Bonds lasted 11 with him

Had it been Norris in there, Terry, Norri-shed with the speed of the infinite, would have taken advantage of Ray's ineptitude and performed an early version of Norris- srl

I give the edge to Leonard. However, I think of Hearns as being a fighters fighter. Leonard was an expert at gamesmenship.
He made a point fighting big fights at the right time and getting all the advantages possible when negotiating fight terms. Hearns is well known for losing, albeit in heroic fashion, some of his biggest fights.

you must be talking about the guy who twice decked Leonard and won by this score: 120-106

truth be told, the two defeats reduced his stature quite dramatically and can never (should never) be mentioned in the same breath as Mayweather

It's sounds funny when you say "china chinned Norris" and it's leonard who kept hitting the deck (smiley face)

The irony of it please me!

"Terry Norris had a china chin" another in a long line of myths in Norris-mythology
