How many fighters in the last 20 years are ATGs?

He didn't get much justice in the scoring in a couple of big fights.

 

Yeah Nunn is 14. Toney is 10.

P4P I have Toney 66, Nunn 95.

Yeah I don't think it's possible to put a number on what a definitive ATG is. More an appreciation of someone that transcends time.

So if you have resume as a prime criteria for ranking it would be someone who's resume would shine in any era. I mainly rank on h2h. I do believe Nunn was one of the best ever MW men. He just ran into Toney who I feel was better than him.

 

Neither did a couple of his opponents to be fair, JT.

 

Ivan Calderon could be a candidate. He was perhaps the next great Minimumweight Champion to emerge after Lopez (who probably just misses the timeline - though, this too could be debated). Briefly broke into the Pound-for-Pound rankings, having stepped up to and during a good run at 108.

 

I suspect that the list will be longer than we think, at least in the eyes of future generations.

It might be the case that Antonio Tarver will be seen as a great fighter in thirty years time.

 

Yes but i am talking the "other potential ATG's, did he win at the heavier weights." LH mentioned. He did beat a couple given fair scoring.

If 'seen as an ATG i would be disappointed. How i miss my 80's, everyone knew the likes of Hagler, Gomez, Holmes, SRL, Hearns, Spinks, Arguello etc etc etc etc etc were ATG's way way before they were finished.

 

Roman Gonzalez was the first fighter I thought of on this subject. Hope I didn't jinx him for tonight. But I really don't think I did. That dude is one awesome fighter.
