The fix WAS in! Judges had brook ahead on the cards....

1st round Golovkin
2nd round Brook. Cleaner work and a couple of eye-catching shots.
4th round Golovkin

For me, the argument comes down to the 3rs round. Kell was counterimg well and did some nice stuff but did not deter GGG one bit. And GGG's work was clearly more hurtful when it landed. I gave it GGG, but I could, just about, see a case for giving it to Brook.

So, at the very best, I could possibly, just about, maybe see it even going into the 5th. No way on God's green earth can I see how Brook was winning.

 

So what? GGG knew he could soak up the kids shots and walk through him Was never gonna go 12 rounds broken eye socket or not.

 

My wife (Who doesn't know sh*t about boxing) was watching with me and she thought that Brook was ahead.
I thought it was even. But after 2 rounds you could see that this would never see the final bell.

 

Had it 3-1 to ggg but that doesn't tell the whole story, brook was getting battered and the only reason anyone can consider it even remotely competitive is the fact they are looking at the fight in relation to expectation. Brook landed a few good shots and because everyone expected him to get bombed out they therefore put more emphasis on those shots. Watch it without the commentary/crowd noise and it's a bit of a massacre. Kell didn't hurt golovkin once, despite what he claimed in the post fight interview.

 

Did anyone else feel like that 'slip' in the third was an actual knock down? I saw a slo mo clip on Twitter and it certainly looked legit to me

 

This. I could make an argument for Kell in the 3rd round.
I watched it on repeat and I liked Kell's work. At the time I wasn't scoring because of the excitement. The crowd would definitely have played in Kell's favour.
Clearer work and eye catching shots always get replays on the big screens in between rounds. I always wondered in the judges look at these. I remember seeing a lot of round replays in the Porter fight that favoured Kell.

 

FS only 1 judge had Brook winning (had Brook winning the first), the other 2 had it even.
It wasn't a clean knockdown and looked like legs got tangled. I don't know what you're trying to get at here

 

So it was majority draw.. on the cards?

 

Canelo was winning by split decision on the official cards.. but anyone who knows about boxing will score it 6-0 and 4-1..

I'm not a big Brook fan but I had it 2-2

Rounds 2 and 3 were Brook rounds..

Brook landed some nice combos and some nice uppercuts..

 

Nah the round where he landed the left uppercut he done good.. but that's about it.. lost every round except for that..

I had Golovkin winning the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5 rounds..............Golovkin knocked Brook down in the 3rd round, watched it several time on my DVR. I did give Brook the 2nd round, but even in that round it was Golovkin who was doing the damage.................Wonder how long it will take Brook to recover from the broken eye socket?
