before the Brook fight , I would say Paul Williams had a 10 percent chance of beating GGG while Paul was in his prime . I had a prime Martinez vs GGG a 50/50 fight! What's changed: After seeing that GGG can be boxed in the middle of the ring as long as you're willing to put punches together and have hand speed, you can beat him! Paul and Martnez are two guys who don't get caught up on the ropes and can fight in the center of the ring. The wouldn't be intimidated by Golovkin and would actually have the speed to land their combos. Paul and Martinez had better head movement the Kell. I would give Paul vs GGG a 60/40 fight with GGG getting the leg up Martinez I would give him a 65/45 chance of beating GGG If you disagree, please counter with tatics not personal or childish retoteric
Paul Williams is an active and high stamina fighter. You don't want to be too active against Golovkin. Never pressure Golovkin. He will take your head off The best style to beat Golovkin is a fast boxer puncher. Somebody who can stop him from walking in and cutting off the ring.
Good point! Paul would eventually get KO in like the 10th but he would make it a fight where he would be up on the cards before the KO. What do you think about Martinez?
No disrespect to Pwill... But we're talking about the same guy that got KTFO by 50% "ko artist" Sergio Martinez? Paul had a great beard, but Sergio broke him. Golovkin would hammer that skinny frame of Williams and williams wasn't good enough, or smart enough to do anything about it. HE WOULD GET DESTROYED.
Martinez has the right style to pull it off. But he doesn't have the power IMO to grt it done. I think Golovkin walks him down and stops Martinez. Much like Margarito did.
I disagree. It's not a good style match up. Paul would get in there, try to get close and throw a lot of punches. That's not the way to beat GGG. Don't get me wrong, GGG could potentially get outslugged with the right guy in there, but Paul Williams isn't a slugger. He's a volume puncher and throwing all those punches would leave to be countering opportunities for GGG. The best way to beat GGG is to beat him in a boxing match by making him frustrated and wreckless. I could see Ward doing that, but I don't think anyone else is capable at this point.
You can't outbox GGG. Because Golvokin will simply walk down and pressure you unless you gave the power to push him back. You need a punch to beat Golovkin.
I agree, but that's why I pick Ward to beat him. Ward is just too big, too strong, and too skilled. He's a triple threat.
Ok I see your point. But that's not really a fair comparison since Golovkin is a MW. I like to think of him against other men his own size.
Appears no one even had dreamed to attempt this until GGG was not 35 y.o uncle. This does tells a lot. Like no one from marked as " someone " had REAL intent to get in the ring younger than 36 y.o Beterbiev or Gvozdyk versions from fights vs Beterbiev. Now when Bet is over the hill and old, Gvozdyk ring rusty and retired nice talks might appear to get attention. Floyd Jr now is 40+ and still not enough old for Canelo to beat on fair cards, like today 39 y.o GGG. When GGG will be 40 y.o then he will be enough old uncle for Canelo to fight with again.
