Exactly. This is a dumb thread. So GGG is simply not going to land a single punch all fight...but Maidana landed several? GTFOH with this nonsense. Ward probably beats ggg, floyd does NOT. Ever. Floyd would last longer than Brook but he gets stopped.

Yes PBF would have to stay off the ropes with GGG no doubt. He knows that I think he would keep the fight in the middle of the ring for the most part. GGG can't do anything to PBF there if he goes to the ropes he's giving GGG the best shot at beating him.

That's irrelevant TBE is a marketing tool nothing more. Fighters should be held to the same standards period. You can't say PBF has to go up to a 6th weight class and then say GGG doesn't have to go up to 168 or 175. You can't have it both ways.

To be clear, is your position that it's more likely that PBF is able to keep the fight in the center of the ring for 12 round than it is for GGG to cut the ring off and force the fight along the ropes at times?

ggg would smash floyd. floyd doesnt hit hard enough to slow ggg down. its a bad match up for floyd.
ggg's ability to cut off the ring and punch while in motion, will equalize floyds great foot movement. if floyd shoulder rolls he gets hit on top of the head like rubio did. theres just no way floyd can avoid getting caught by someone so much bigger, more powerful, still prime and with absolutely no fear of being hurt by anything you throw at him.
it would look like a really violent **** scene.

Long before Floyd called himself TBE he was saying he was better than ALI. And when people argued against him saying that in interviews he defended it with sort of a desperate, upset tone in his voice.

Point is, he comes off as though he truly believes that he's the best ever, which I personally don't really take a issue with. I have more of an issue with his insistence that everyone needs to accept it as so. If Floyd legitimately wants to make that insistence then he needs to take on challenges like facing GGG at 160 and beating him.

Yes it is. PBF has demonstrated his ability against more elite guys than GGG has. I have more confidence in his ability than I have in GGG's.

When are you gong to hold GGG to the same standard? PBF doesn't need GGG. GGG needs PBF. PBF is already the best of this era and has nothing left to prove, while GGG still has plenty. Why shouldn't GGG move up to 168 and fight DeGale and then to 175 to fight Ward Stevenson or Kovalev? After all he drops HWs in sparring.

Fair enough. But whomever you're referring, those guys aren't as long and with the reach of GGG. I'm admittedly no expert on Floyd's early resume but I can't account for the life of me an opponent he's faced who is as talented at cutting off the ring as GGG. And again, if there is someone who you can name, they probably aren't as long and with the reach of Golovkin.

If there's some sort of public discourse about GGG being the best ever then I personally will start calling for him to move up and face the Ward's and the Kovalev's of the sport. And that's when I'll start to hold Golovkin to the same standard as Floyd.

I think the more apt comparison will be GGG's resume against Hopkins's at MW. Personally I'd like to see him attempt to break Bernard's record of title defenses and along the way face all of the top MW's including Canelo.

I could definitely see Mayweather boxing his way to a UD against a drained Bumlovkin @ 154lbs...

even if Floyd was a natural MW, GGG would still beat him!

Floyd's usual covering up on the ropes, leaning back, using his elbows, & the shoulder roll would not save him from a GGG offensive. After a few rounds Golovkin would break Floyd's face or ribs right through his guard. The size and power deficit is just too expensive. Skills won't pay that bill. Floyd's only hope would be to drain GGG down to a cardboard cutout of himself.

JLC could cut the ring off with the best of them.
