#GGGBrook does a combined 1.4M on HBO, 1.5M on Azteca - highest rated international HBO #boxing telecast in years there you go now we all know who is the a side did they release the canelhoe v chinny con khany ppv numbers
I think Brook in 2017 will show he no longer needs the Khan fight. Brook will get paid well fighting elsewhere.
Brook got biggest HBO figures of the year, biggest in years, got massive figures around the world. He is also the Sky fighter, PPV star in UK and a much better fighter than Khan so should get lions share. Fight wont happen though as Khan is scared very scared of Brook has been for years.
Brook is not a PPV 'star'. He was PPV because he was fighting GGG. If he was to go back fighting the likes of Bizier or Dan he would be back on normal sky (unless they were part of one of fast eddies stacked cards). Todays PPV star in the UK is someone like AJ who commands PPV against bums like Brazeale etc- this does not apply for Brook: And what are these massive figures around the world that you are referring about? In regards to the US correct me if I'm wrong but Canelo - Khan was HBO PPV whearas as GGG- Brook was on standard HBO. Look Brook was probably bang Khan out if they fight now but all this nonsense going around that Brook is this massive star because he got banged out by GGG in the UK is a joke.
Canelo vs Smith is PPV. Are you gonna say Smith is bigger than brook? Don't think anyone is saying brook is some huge star. Just saying he is goes into negotiations in a far stronger position then 6 months ago. Any talk of khan being the A side is farcical
No of course I'm not saying Smith is bigger then Brook- the fight is PPV because of Canelo. I was responding to the point made about the US viewing figures for GGG - Brook apparently being massive as if that somehow makes Brook some major star and in the box seat in any potential negotiations with Khan. Canelo- Khan was a much bigger fight in the US and the world whereas GGG- Brook was obviously bigger in the UK. Brook being the Sky/Hearn fighter is also irrelevant interms of who gets the bigger split - for example Franpton took a bigger share then Quigg. Look the fight should probably just be a 50/50 split but quite frankly if I was Khan I would still demand the higher share. Why should Brook get some major boost in negotiations because he got stopped in a fight with GGG? Taking away that fight he has only fought one other world level fighter in Porter who frankly ain't really all that anyway.
He helped sell over 400,000 PPV buys. That has to mean something. And if you think it's only GGG who shifted 400,000 PPV's buys then I like to see you predict that GGG vs Saunders would anything near it. Kell goes into negotiations demanding 50/50 minimum. Remember last time khan started negotiations with 80/20.
Its not about whether he is a PPV star. The numbers don't lie. Over 400k PPV buys vs a fighter who's fights are not even on Sky is impressive. You cant say they were all down to GGG. If that's the case I assume Boxnation is rolling in subscribers to watch GGG fights........oh wait. The gate was genuinely sold out. When did Amir Khan last sell out an arena in the UK? The question is who would be A side? I don't think it can be denied it is now Brook. Khan before had a genuine case to argue he should be paid more as he was the bigger draw. I don't think he can say that anymore.
Brook is the better fighter, deep down Amir Con knows this and the fight will never happen. As for the premier fighter it's got to be Brook. Khans never had an elite win, in fact I'd go as far as saying Brooks victory over Porter is better than anything Khan has ever done, he's a champion and he's the guy the public came out to watch in droves last time out. Khan has a narcissistic personality which doesn't match his quite average resume.
Brook. Not that he's a huge attraction, but when was the last time Khan fought in the UK? 4 years ago? Owing to his past prominence, Khan may still be the more recognisable name to the average punter, but Brook's got the whole Matchroom/Sky machine in his corner and the Golovkin fight will have undoubtedly increased his stock.
Canelo wouldn't knock out Brook at 154, he might not even win. Whereas he obliterated Khan. Also while Brook has become increasingly dedicated to his profession as he's got older, Khan has done the opposite. Just look at the way they both dealt with adding weight. Brook was in prime condition two weight classes up from welter, while Khan was carrying some timber at 154. There was no need for that. Apparently Virgil Hunter is always requesting Khan trains more between bouts but hardly ever sees him out of camp. One fighter has gone backwards, one keeps improving.
